A year before wedding, an Indian couple won't even know that the other one exists. Lol.

I'm from India especially the north east and it really depends on how quick the marriage was put on. It usually takes a few months to prepare and normally invites are sent out a month or 3 weeks before.

In Malaysia, the earliest I've received a wedding invitation card is 6 weeks but usually 3-4 weeks is the norm.
The only reason for you to be invited to a wedding earlier than that, is if you are part of the wedding ceremony, close family/friend. Even then, the invitation is only verbally. You'd only get the invitation card the same time as all the rest of the guests.

There's only two options if you're italian:
"Tomorrow we get married, if you want to participate don't bother coming to the ceremony, go straight to the reception"
or
"I know we met once at the bus stop in elementary school but the 2nd of July 2025 I get married and I would really love for you to come, please let me know as soon as possible since we have to book catering".

I was wracking my brain trying to figure out where this audio is from and I realize it's edited from lilo and stitch. I feel too relieved not to mention it 😌

Vietnam has a “Nhau” culture. Basically drinking and partying is very common, and people get together to drink after work 2-5 days of the week. Depending on how formal the event is, sometimes a wedding is just another nhau for them lmao that’s why it’s possible to give invitations on such short notice. But for most young couples these days, weddings are usually notified a month in advance 😛

In Poland we usually get an unoffical invitation almost right away after the date of wedding is settled down (at least closest people to bride and groom) and around 1-2 month before the actual ceremony we get the offical invitation

I always wanted a small church wedding with immediate family members only. In my Mexican culture, that’s not the norm. Before I knew it, I had six bridesmaids, rented a large venue, booked mariachis, limo, had a wedding planner…etc. In the end, I am glad all 400 invitees had a great time, but my personal style is still small, intimate wedding. I prefer the simple and quiet lifestyle. A wedding day is a special day, but it is only one single day. Too much went into making it happen. Felt unnecessary for me because what I knew would happen, did happen. My favorite moments at my wedding were with my husband. Everyone else was nearly invisible to me.

In the US 3-6 months is standard to receive an invitation. Most people also send a save the date up to a year in advance but not more usually.

At Bali, we usually invites like 2 weeks before the wedding, and it is normal 😂

Totally. We Vietnamese people just have a super informal spontaneous spirit.

In Britain the invites are typically sent out during the early planning process of the wedding if not earlier, which means realistically 2 or so years in advance max depending on the couple
