In this Namecheap review, I'll go over my experiences of buying and using Namecheap web hosting services.

Over the recent years, Namecheap web hosting has become very popular amongst people who are looking for a budget solution to host their websites. With advancements in web hosting technology, it's now possible to have a good service and a cheap price. So, I bought a plan and documented my journey of using Namecheap in this Namecheap review.

The first red flag for me was ERRORS during the purchase process. You would assume that this step should work flawlessly, right? After all, they are trying to take your money. However, the process of buying a web hosting plan was extremely glitchy for me. I've run into errors that didn't let me use all of the features (like a free domain name) that were promised.

Is this done deliberately so you would buy more expensive services from them? Hard to say, but the fact that while making this Namecheap review I've run into like 4 errors in the first few minutes was definitely not a good sign.

What Namecheap seems to be doing is attracting customers with low prices on their marketing material, but making it extremely hard for anyone to take advantage of those offers. A little bit deceptive, but by spending 50% more than I initially thought I bought a Namecheap plan and was ready to continue.

What I've noticed is that Namecheap tries to bill you extra money every step of the way. So, if you come for cheap hosting be prepared to spend more than initially expected.

After buying my plan the troubles didn't stop there. I couldn't use basic functions of my control panel and creating a website was a pain. I had to find work-around solutions just to use basic Namecheap features. However, they do have the standard cPanel that's working ok, even though it looks outdated.

For this Namecheap review, I really wanted to dig into the meat of web hosting - the performance. So, I've set up a testing website and launched GTMetrix speed tests as well as K6 cloud stress tests. The results, were quite disappointing.

Namecheap loaded a simple website in 3.2 seconds. That's incredibly slow compared to their competitors. Most web hosting companies load the exact same website in under 2seconds.

I wanted to make sure that it's the web hosting and not my website creation skills that are at fault here. So, I've decided to create the exact same website design, just used another web hosting company - Hostinger (which was even cheaper).

Hostinger was TWICE as fast. Showing, just how out of date the technology that Namecheap uses is.

Overall, to conclude this Namecheap review - I don't recommend them. Even as a cheap web hosting solution, there are better competitors available. Namecheap is slow, there's a lot of errors and you don't get good value for your money.

I have been using name”cheap” as a domain registrar for years and am sick of their predatory tactics. They offer cheap domains for the first year and then make you pay sometimes 10x the price for each following year. I am ready to start looking for a new registrar that’s actually good value to port to

Paid 4$ for hosting with SSL, also purchased the domain for 11$ for the year. Contacted customer service and they installed my SSL for me . Now I’m up and running ..

They are thieves. Look at all the comments. They just stole one from me that wasn't even used yet and they have it for sale on Godaddy auctions for over $400.

I paid for three domain names on the 10th. Their system successfully registered one and then failed on the other two yet it still charged me. I had to complain to get my refund to go through. Then, I set up DNS for the one domain that I did get and I went to bed. I woke up to an "abuse suspension" email. They told me I needed to send them "business paperwork" for a .email extension, lol. I explained it wasn't a business, they got rude and basically said I'm SOL. They didn't even offer a refund. The kicker is I looked the name up on Godaddy and my domain was for sale for over $400. Avoid NameCheap at all costs.

are you sure that was broken OR do they try to annoy customers to contact them so they can sell to you....some things are purposely "broken". We use namecheap and have no issues, understand that they have to make a living to stay in business so stop expecting companies to give you anything for free, if you want them to stay around that is but I think this is more about the principal of bait and switch that we all resent.

Yeah! I am officially done with them. They made me upgrade to their mid tier hosting only to find out it was like 20 years old. I told them that you shouldn't sell a decade old db with issues.

Hey! What do you think about registering a domain with NameCheap?

I buy a domain and use it as domain alias for other domain for security purpose. Then namecheap suspend the domain and the reason is phising. Is using other domain as domain alias is called phising ?

You can literally get the same performance if you edit a htaccess file, which will enable the basics... caching, compressing etc...

As always, awesome video Emit! Quick question... Do you think that a Hostinger Plan will work for an online course site? Or should I start with Scalahosting basic plan?

Watch out for domain front running from these guys. If you search a good domain name they will run it their algorithm to see if it’s a good name and the they will register it and charged you 100’s if not 1000’s after they park your domain seconds after you searched for it. Watch out.

They are blocking purchases so they can register the domains and price them as premiums thats what they are doing or changing the prices of the domains after you submit payment saying the price of the domain was wrong
So they are false advertising domain prices

I am leaving Namecheap, really bad, you can't have emails when buying the domain you don't have email hosting, you need to pay PER email. Is ridiculous.

This guy is the perfect candidate for company defamation. Good editing, but you do realize that you could criticize them with real truths rather than making things up if you do ur research. This company are ideas from a human like u trying to survive and live THE LIFE
