Learn Japanese LIKE A BABY | Sept 2020 Update

My channel is for passive learners like you!... who don't have the patience to learn it in a traditional classroom setting. Hope these tips helped!

I forgot to add/clarify: When I first started learning Japanese, I wasn't taught in a classroom. I took a Japanese course in high school of junior year (scored 5 in AP) and college (took 201), only because it was required to graduate. By then, I was past the basics. Most of my knowledge comes from actual living and doing!

RESOURCES FOR LANGUAGE TRADE APPS (for speaking):
HelloTalk
Bilingua
HiNative
Tandem
FluentU
The Mixer
Speaky
Preply

I am self taught with my Japanese so I am trying to find all the resources I can and I wish I would have found you sooner.

People don’t realize this, but, the barrier that stands between learning a new language is already knowing one

As babies, we consume and then start making inferences

But as people that already know a language and meanings, we feel we need to know the translation

So I totally agree with everything she is saying on this video

I'm starting to learn Japanese as a third lenguage, because I have been "passively consuming" it for sooo long that I realized that I should finally do that jump and dive into this lenguage for good.

I just bought the Genki textbooks, use about 6 apps. I watch your videos, DERO (Early 2000s Japanese game show), read kids books, and listen to children’s stories. I’m only a teenager, but hope to study abroad in Japan when I’m in college.

ありがとう!

This is the exact method that I am using, I do not use flashcards or translation, rather I am learning like a child would with pictures, stories, and absolutely no English while I study. It has been very surprisingly effective

Motivation is the key. Although I still struggle sometimes staying motivated.

Yes I have learned a lot from my neighbors who often come to my house to help me take care of my yard or have a bbq. That is my best chance to practice Japanese.

The song that was catchy enough to stick in my head (and still does) is the days of the week one. Funny enough I was having a hard time remembering them but your song has me thinking about them all the time now, lol.

Cyber Bunny's advice on finding a senpai has been working great for me, totally recommend as well. I've been learning by myself for a few months, but just found an online tutor recently. Having someone to conversate with and ask direct questions to on a regular schedule makes learning easier, and it's also been super fun. Ganbatte everyone!

Gotta say, I love you channel! I was struggling a ton with the days of the week, and now I can’t get the song out of my head. And I realized how I learned French to my level, it was because my teacher had the same teaching style. We watched these absurd number songs with weird shrimp guys, and I can count to nearly 10000 in French. Thats way more than Japanese so far, I can only go to about 100 before I get confused, and I learned the numbers with a genki textbook. Definitely will be watching more! ありがとうございます!
