On August 26, 2024, Russia launched its largest missile and drone attack on Ukraine, targeting 15 regions with over 127 missiles and 109 drones in an eight-hour assault. In this video, we break down how Ukraine successfully defended itself using its new F-16 fighter jets for the first time. We'll analyze the impact of this cutting-edge technology on Ukraine's air defenses, the potential for future operations, and the challenges Ukraine faces in achieving air superiority against Russia.

Ukrainians have shown ingenuity, courage, imagination and dedication that has earned them the admiration of the World.
The Russians have shown a level of inhumanity, depravity, corruption and incompetence that has astounded the World.

The Ukrainian pilot no doubt used the rotary cannon when he ran out of missiles in a brave attempt to stem the massive attack and got caught in a explosion of one of the cruise missiles he shot down. He traded his life to save his Ukrainian people and children. What a honorable thing to do.

I wonder if Ukraine could hire some retired American vets. Pretty sure a few Americans mercs would love the chance to humiliate Russia.

The F16 that crashed, may have took damage from debris from the missiles it shot down. That is always a major concern, if your at close range. 2000m or less. Even a small stationary object can do a lot of damage if hit by something going 600+mph, like an F16. Think about how bad a rock hurts if thrown at you at 30-60mph.... Now think what it would do if its going over 600mph. Yah, that's a lot of damage. Sad to hear you lost a good pilot, he died a hero, defending Ukraine. Hopefully he will be in the history books, so his sacrifice won't be forgotten.

Training the pilots is one thing but training the maintainers and setting up the entire infrastructure to keep them flying ia an entirely different beast. There are about 100 people to keep one plane flying.

Just getting the "fire and forget" missiles was a HUGE upgrade for Ukraine. The old missiles they were using relied on a link to the planes targeting system to hit it's target. The pilot would have to fire the missile then continue flying behind the missile to guide it to its target which was extremely dangerous for the Ukrainian pilots. And even a slight deviation could break the link between plane and missile and the missile would just fly off and go who knows where. With these modern weapons it's lock, fire then turn and leave in the opposite direction

Edit Sorry, I didn't know the vid would cover this exact thing.

Mirage 2000 jets (upgraded to air to ground attack) will complement the F-16 soon.

Thanks for shedding light on the use of the F16. I was wondering why we haven't heard them used against the glide bombs.

Nice job, it would be interesting to hear about Russia military hardware order cancellations since 2022.

I'm surprised Ukraine hasn't setup a program to hire former USAF and NATO F-16 pilots in a similar way that China did during WW2 with the AVG. Would dramatically shorten the training period and put experienced pilots in the cockpits etc.
