This felt less about encounters and more about sample adventures. I was expecting a 20+ min video about building encounters or changes to the tools for encounters.

The most interesting take away is that we'll see more 2024 monsters before the MM release, imo.

I haven't DM'd for a long time. Though I've always been a huge fan of Dungeons and Dragons ever since my brother introduced it to me. It's not uncommon for girls to play the game nowadays, but back in the past, it was very rare, even more rare for a girl to become a DM. I've had homebrewed table top games as well as just games that I've tried to follow from the books. I love to draw maps, my characters, npc's and monsters based on the game and based outside the game and brought into the game as homebrewed monsters.

And I know a lot of people have issues with the 4th editon, but I liked it. I like 3e most. I've played maybe 1 or 2 5e, but like I said, it's been forever. I've never played the game over the internet before, that's all new to me. I like tabletop personally. AND don't get me started on dice. I have all sorts of dice including glow-in-the-dark dice and about 20 - quarter inch d6 dice which I love cuz they're so tiny!

Wow this has nothing about encounters...i want to know if they updated rules to encounters balancing, CR, and other actually useful things

I love to let them check for traps and inspect and make an arcana check. And it’s just a normal unlocked door🚪 lol 😂

So nothing about actually creating and balancing encounters with respect to the CR which is all over the place? The thing that takes the most time for most DMs (my self included) and the thing that puts off new DMs (that I've spoken to)? Currently DMs mostly have to just "get a feel" for it over time because encounter balancing is all over the place. MCDM's CR calculator is the closest to a half usable solution I've used so far. This was the bit I was really hoping they'd revamp or do Something about to help make prep easier and save time, but I guess it's still pretty much flying by the seat of our pants with respect to this.

I think the mathematical part of the encounter build calculation deeply flawed, and seems to me that the DMG '24 will not tackle that =/.
