I had to sit through three idiots before I found this guy. He does it right, with the right parts and the right advice. I curse you with one million subs!!!

The best mechanic video I've ever seen on YT (and I've seen a LOT)

Specs called out.
Part numbers.
Process.
Tricks & Tips.
Not a complainer.
Witty Humor.

Thank you!!!

Outstanding for so many reasons!
Professionalism is difficult to mix successfully with accuracy AND a sense of humor. My boss buys 2-3yr old Transits for his HVAC fleet. It's my job to ready them for the road.
I am also in charge of the fleet as it rolls on...
Your advice and wisdom has been instrumental in my well-being!
My "Rust Belt" notes will include the use of an air hammer to separate the rear rotor from the axle flange. Then further use to align it for removal. A floor jack kept the bearing stationary.

Thank you for being meticulous!

Very useful video. I have a couple of additions for the DIYer working at home:
-Without a serious air tool, removing the torque-to-yield bolts isn't easy. Make sure you have a 1/2" drive breaker bar and a strong 15mm, 6-point socket (NAPA sells them). A 12-point socket may not be capable of the necessary torque - it may slip off, mangling the head of the bolt.
- Normal levels of corrosion may make the rotor much more difficult to remove than was the case in the video. To deal with this, first remove the dust shield inboard of the rotor (3 small bolts that take an 8mm socket). Then use a heavy hammer to drive the rotor inboard until it becomes loose, and rotate it to give the correct alignment for removal. Finally, a lot of tapping with a medium hammer will drive the rotor outboard and eventually off.

Great video! I feel the same way about brakes that you do. It is optional for your vehicle to run, it is non-optional for it to stop. I have to do the brakes on my Transit and feel ready to do it after this video. Thanks for taking the time!

Did my rears today. Only reason that I had the confidence to do them is because of your videos. Did the front brakes and front bearings last month with your other videos. Thanks again!

Harrison: as many others here have commented already - I REALLY appreciate the thoroughness of your video content and dialog. It's some of the best I've seen anywhere. Has given me the assurance to go ahead and do my own Transit's brakes (both front and rear). In my case - the rear rotors are at a point where they need to be replaced also. Some of the comments made here by those who question some of your suggestions re: safety and liability-related aspects of this work, and who appear to feel that their levels of legal and mechanical expertise are beyond reproach, is simply unfortunate. They really need to go find something more useful and productive to do with their time. Again - great video. Many thanks for all the details re: parts and tools needed.

This is the best Automotive How-to video I have seen on YouTube. I used to maintain 3 T1N Sprinters, and the factory service manual from Mercedes was great. No such luck from Ford, (I tried one of the cobbled together Transit “Service Manual CD’s” off Ebay, and am really disappointed by what is available). Videos like yours are an absolute life saver - thanks for taking the time to put these together - sharing your valuable expertise is hugely appreciated by us shadetree mechanics :)

This video makes me happy. So detailed. A buddy of mine and I are going to tackle this job for front and back brakes. Gonna buy some galvanized/zinc coated ceramic break pads for longer life and make sure I replace all that is recommended in this video to ensure safety.

Just want to say thank you for this video. Very informational, hit all the key points and straight to the point. I was able to follow this video to change the rear rotors and pads on my buddies transit and saved him a lot of money. You’re appreciated

Stellar video! So glad you showed off the diff fluid level check! Love that attention to detail. I come from an aviation background- it’s so nice to see a mechanic following the detail as per the factory spec! Love it!!!

I cant say it was easy after buying the wrong rotors and breaking a few sockets, but the job is done and done well. A few more tools are now added for the next one and i can now get 1 side done in under and hour. Thanks for the great video, i liked and followed, even though you aren't as active. Thanks for the great tutorial.

Really appreciate your videos. I found you when I just did my front brakes. Wish I had this when I did my rears a year or so ago. Definitely a very underrated channel

I really appreciate the time you take to explain everything the right way,
Your videos have been very helpful for me since I own 8 Ford Transits for school transportation in my town, thank you very much for all your videos, very good job 👍

Hey Med Tec67. Like your very thorough methods. Didn't know what a torque to yield bolt was. Now I understand the importance of replacing instead of reusing.
