Sharing my thoughts on the Birkenstock Boston Clog that are so popular! They have been popping up on celebs like Kendall Jenner and are being worn in all sorts of great outfits this season.

Are they really worth the splurge? Are they comfortable? Are they true to size? People rave about Birkenstocks, but are they good quality, and how do you style them? Spoiler alert, I have been wearing these a lot! Click on this video to see my opinion about the Birkenstock Boston Clog and see what I wear them with.

My Birks are the Boston Clog Soft Footbed in Faded Khaki. I wear a size 41 in all Birkenstocks (my regular size!) and they fit great.

An 11 out of 10 for your excellent review! You can feel your enthusiasm :) I can only agree, the Birkenstock Boston clogs are the perfect transitional shoes for me - I usually wear them barefoot, in the mornings in autumn when it's still cold my toes are covered and in the afternoon when it's warm my heels are free. Exactly as you say, for yoga, for example, I love the clogs for quickly slipping in and out. I also had the problem that the color taupe is always sold out and I decided on the brown shade mink. And to be honest, I don't think it's that bad that the suede leather is a bit more sensitive than smooth leather, to a certain extent I think it's nice to have a patina, a used look, so you can see that I like wearing it: I live in my Birkenstock :) Best regards 👣🌸🤗

You say that you highly recommend the soft footbed. I have a slightly different opinion about that topic because back in the days when the soft footbed was released things looked a bit different. A small review: The soft footbed was invented in 1999 as in german called “Weichbettung” and no marking or label on the footbed has indicated it so that usually a small white round sticker was attached at the heel of the footbed to distinguish it visually from the hard ones. But it was a huge difference to today´s version. The latex cushion underneath the suede liner was at least twice as thick, much much softer and almost reached the edges of the footbed, so the heel was completely padded all around. When I first stepped in it, it was an awesome feeling like walking on a thick squashy pillow, no comparison to this pseud today where is only this well known small thin stripe at the bottom of the footbed which isn´t really soft at all. When I went to the Birkenstock store in 2004 as every year to buy me a new model I realized that Birkenstock had drastically changed the soft footbed. I asked what this change was about, but none of the salesladies could give me a real answer. Fortunately, in this transitional period, there were still some models with the old soft version in stock. Guessing that this old type of cushion would soon be completely replaced, I decided impulsively to make me a own stock and bought about 5 pairs with the old version. After that I called the Birkenstock headquarters to ask why the soft footbed was changed so badly. At first, they denied the change, but on further inquiries they admitted they had changed the footbed. The reasons were as follows: In extreme daily use, the suede liner loses his elasticity over time. Due to the very thick latex padding underneath, the suede liner can not stretch enough anymore when stepping on and tears apart. Because there were a lot of complaints, the padding now was made much thinner and firmer to prevent the suede liner from tearing. They know that this was at the expense of the comfortable feeling but Birkenstock is, of course, a company that has to work for profit so that I could understand the change in some way. Therefore, if I buy a new pair today, I prefer the normal hard version instead of the soft one. At the time of the old soft footbed, however, that would never have been an option for me and I had argued like you. By the way: your Boston outfits, especially the one at 6'55, are very cute 😉

The Boston clog is great. A classic for so many years. They are so comfortable once broken in. Birkenstock lasts for years.

Great video!! However, I was wondering if you ever wear the Bostons without socks?

Girls would get these clogs stolen all the time during school when I was young! I used to love seeing it. A girl would be shoe playing or had them off during the class or in the library! You’d see her come to class with her clogs and she would be leaving in socks by the time the bell rang hehe

I feel Birk sizing is WAY OFF. I’m a TRUE size 8 and have always worn 38s which is a 7-7.5. I mistakenly ordered a 39 which is 8-8.5 without looking at my other Birks. I even printed out their sizing template to reassure myself that they’ll probably fit with socks. NO. The template said I should be a size 41. Everyone do yourself a favor and size DOWN. I own Boston regular fit, Florida regular fit, Arizona regular fit and Madrid narrow fit…all size 38 which is a size down from what I normally wear.

The only problem is that they only released a couple colors in the natural full grain leather and they instantly sold out because that's what people want is the high quality leather that's soft and smooth on the inside. They keep on putting out more and more colors and restocking the cheap suede knock off of the natural leather. It's a completely different shoe. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on natural leather in this style, they will be soft and smooth on the inside and out and last forever. The suede that they chose to apparently replace due to the no restock of what's in demand is literally a cheap knockoff that you can buy at Stone Mountain for 50 bucks or less. Everybody should stop buying these shoes until they go back to using the high quality material that they want to used to produce these shoes. They won't even restock it. It sells out instantly but they don't want to continue to make those? It's confusing to people that they call these Suede Shoes the same thing that they call the high quality. It even looks the same. Until you get it home and realize it is absolutely nothing like the high quality material they used to use used to use and won't restock in this brand or the Buckley. Everybody should just stop buying the suede junk. Maybe then, they will resume making the high quality shoes we have grown to know and love.

I'm going to highly recommend the Buckley for women instead of the Boston. Buckleys come in a range of leather and colors nd doesn't make a gal's foot look like a Hobbit's the way Boston does.
