The thing that makes me cry most about this scene is "I certainly did." Because it means he took that crystal he made in secret, imbued with his memories of Azem and one of their most loved spells, to all the places they would have gone to in their stead, and believed it his duty AS THEIR BEST FRIEND to do so, to take what was left of them to see and know what they were no longer around to experience. That...That is incredible.

The bonds between people are stronger than death, stronger than despair, stronger even than oblivion itself. Always cherish those you love. Especially when they have gone, do not despair, hold close that bond and remember them, remember that they once lived.

People might wonder where we go from this to which I will say we have all of Emet Selch’s suggestions, 5 Shards to explore, and a void to return light to. Indeed the journey is far from over.

Emet talking about locations you haven’t been to yet, is like your friend watching you finish reading this book called The Hobbit, then while you sitting back and saying what a great story it was, he says “yeah it was a great book, but haven’t you heard of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy? The Samirillon??...WHAT, YOU HAVEN'T??? WHAT ROCK DO YOU LIVE UNDER???"

The Elpis flowers being in its normal state makes a lot more sense if you do some of the sidequests and FATEs in the zone

Dragonets with "OK, Boomer" attitudes towards the hopeless adult dragons, Eas that want to re-experience what its like to have corporeal forms, and Omicrons that want more out of life than constant combat

I cried through this entire scene. Once I knew who I had summoned I was probably sobbing. Emet just establishing himself as the best character is FFXIV in just a few sentences that were way too short.

Emet selch and Hythlodaeus were the best characters in Endwalker.

Gods. His smile just before he vanishes. Gets me every single time. Almost like he knows something we don’t. Maybe we will meet again. There at journeys end. And when we do, we can share all of our tales of adventure with him. That wouldn’t be so bad. Would it?

You know exactly who those two are as soon as they are summoned, especially when the first thing you hear from Emet is a big sigh lol. Yet when it zooms out on them in full view in front of the WoL with that boom noise it sends chills down the spine.

I finished endwalker about 3 weeks ago. My fiancé and roommate stayed up until 3am with me to watch me get to and finish ultima thule. The amount of tears I cried up to kissing the twins could fill a damn 6’ deep pool! When I started walking and the voices spoke to me I tried to contain myself. Cue Haurchefant’s voice, and I broke!!!! Cue Ryne’s voice, I couldn’t breathe! Cue second Arbert’s voice, I said “this is the most beautiful story I have ever read”.

And thus, the Elpis flower did indeed become test and proof of the WoL's conviction. A conviction that would not fade even in the very nest of despair.
Oh boy, what a trip this expansion has been.

I love that Emet is totally unapologetic for what he did in ShB. It’s not some cliche “Oh you were right the whole time and I just didn’t see”. He still firmly believes he was justified. He just lost.

Emet-Selch was my favourite part of FF14. We do anything to save the ones we love, and we found somebody who was doing the same and in Hythlodaeus we saw the his was a worthy fight, but in the end we all are willing to give our all for the star.
