A year with Unifi - A Ubiquiti Unifi 1 Year Review in 2022

One year back I bought and installed a Ubiquiti Unifi system. It started as overkill and now...it's...nuts. I have upgraded the system with Unifi Protect and Unifi Network devices, extended it via fiber to my studio and generally learned the ins and outs of the system. Short version is I love the system, watch to find out why and what I wish was better. 2022 Ubiquiti Unifi is just around the corner and it's time to run a modern network at your home too.

As a new user and visual learner this was a very helpful video. I really appreciate the work you put into your system. Is there a chance you could post a clean copy of your system network tree? It would be a great reference tool for newbies like me?

Tip: record your B footage while you are listening to your recording of the video script. The B footage has no consistency and its hard to focus on what you are showing while you are talking about something else. Right now the cursor is jumping all over the place

Need to talk about that Seamless handoff… I’m on my third attempt of a mesh system I may go back to my ubiquity if I can get the handoff down

Are your protect recordings going directly to your NVR while using your dream machine as your single controller? I have not been able to find away to make this work. Do you have any content on this subject?

Have been contemplating going with a unify setup . Of course I want to but the real question is WHY? As of now my network is a SOHO little netgear orbi wifi 6 system that covers 4500sq ft house. My coverage can not get any better without upping my GB service. I see 980mb wired downloads and 50 up. My wireless speeds run around 600-700mb down. Security of course would be better but again do I need this? I do have a seperate NVR which I dont care for (Q See, went out of business) but it works. It seems the unify cameras are about as hard to find as GPU's without paying a premium price. Any suggestions?

Do you have to be connected to this for it to work? I guess I'm asking is this simply a wi fi router?

Why No discussion about the availability of UNIFI products? I’ve searched YouTube and nothing about UNIFI stock shortages… what gives🤷🏽‍♂️
