is IT even worth it? seems like people have a hard time breaking out into the field. I hate health care, but at least as a nurse you never have to stress about finding a job and getting hired. I'd hate to waste my time gaining an education in IT only to have a hard time landing a job.

Just my personal opinion but as someone living in the Los Angeles area, I would avoid Indeed.com. I've been applying for all sorts of jobs on that site spread across 5 years and not ONCE did I get even an interview. Probably because the Los Angeles workforce population is very large and your competition is extremely fierce. I get better luck with Craigslist. I remember when I was desperate (still kinda desperate) and asking IT managers if they will hire me for free so I can try to show them my dedication since I knew my skillset sucked. With Craigslist, I would AT LEAST get some interviews (though never hired lol). With Indeed, your application just goes in the trashcan.

Linkedin is horrible b/c they spam the people in your contact list.
