Merrell Moab Review - Best cheap hiking shoes

Literally the best hiking shoes for £60.00. I can't fault the Merrell Moab for comfort and affordability. Brilliant little trekking shoe!

I first got these at a Go Outdoors store because they were the cheapest ones there, but after hiking hundreds of miles in these they've really help up to the test of time.

The Merrell Moab trail shoe is durable and light weight for its price point and is the perfect hiking shoe for those just starting out their thruhiking journey along our national scenic trails.

I really didn't like how Go Outdoors said on their website that these are "Gore Tex Water Proof" These shoes definitely are not waterproof.

But hey, that's not a bad thing, because these shoes dry out super fast.

I had a pair of the old version of maoab. They leaked after 2 months then the sole started coming apart after 6 months. They hadn't been used for long hikes, there was a lot of tread left. My dad bought a pair 6 months ago which split on the side.

"What is your favorite hiking shoe and why?" The Moab 2 hi-top for ankle support. They are not slippery on wet floors. And my socks don't get wet when I step into puddles. Also, I can climb and keep my balance on unstable terrain. And they are light.

Going to use these shoes for the EBC trek next week. Got them for 65 euro during black Friday sales. Good bang for the buck.

I’m looking for something very grippy on flat rocks, I heard they are a little less grippy.

These suck. Two month in sole separated. Couldn’t return them so I went to the store I purchased and stuck a note on them and placed them on the display. Then I bought a cheap pair of sketchers outdoor ultra. Still have them still waterproof and still no separation after 3 years of dirt gravel and rocky terrain.

I had these and they were size 12.5 toe was bashed on my right foot... slippy as hell scrambling.. the only good thing was heel well cushion.. lases come undone.. they are not very waterproof either...feet sliding forward on the down hill toe box was rough 😩 wouldn't say these are worth the £71.. going in for some solamons next

I had the gore tex version of these. Loved the look of them, super comfy but soles fell apart after 4 months. Shame as I really liked them.

The shoes are not waterproof, it is the gore-tex membrane (whatever that is) that is waterproof. Will be getting some soon.

I've been wearing the Moab shoe for years and was very pleased, but had to buy the Moab 2 lately since the other shoe is not made anymore. The Moab 2 is trash in that it hurt my feet and the sizing is crazy. This shoe is one inch shorter than it is supposed to be and one half inch more narrow. Merrell has refused to refund my money, so the shoe goes to charity and any Merrell purchase in the future is history. Terrible workmanship and quality in the Moab 2.

Can you comment on the durability of the soles compared to trail runners? Altras don't last longer than 500miles right? Suggestions?

I dont rate merrell at all, I had a pair and they irreparably fell apart within no time of light wear... or maybe it's just me. Mine weren't cheap either

I couldn't disagree more. I found them very uncomfortable, the build quality was dire, they fell apart after two months and they were expensive.

Second pair of Merrels I've owned and similar disappointment with the first pair, too.

Never again.
