I've been flying the Mavic Pro 2 and the Mavic Mini a fair bit this year and found myself carrying the Mavic Mini at all times, while the Mavic Pro 2 is for special cinematic occasions. There's always space to pack the Mini somewhere. I also find myself undertaking riskier shots with it, compared to the Mavic Pro 2, which is my favourite - and far less sharpened - irreplaceable son.
However, given the Mavic Mini on sale in Japan is just 199 GRAMS (absolute witchcraft), you'll be flying away happily suddenly to discover the drone is being dragged off by the gentlest of breezes never to return. Only a prayer and a frantic switch over to sport mode will bring it back (usually).

Wonderful storytelling in this review! And thank you for re-enforcing the importance of closing your bag! I am annoyingly persistent about closing and latching all my gear bags after having picked them up too many times and having gear fall out because I didn't latch them when I set them down. Loved the music as well!

Terrific Philip! I bought a Mini2 after backing my P4 into an errant 200' tree that chased it into the ground . . . Gravity rules. Until the P4 is back in one piece the mini has to pull duty. I may have to stick a strobe LED to it so I can actually see it once it gets over 100' high or so, it is SO small and at night - well, you know.

Oh my goodness, this is glorious. "Philip Bloom" all over, finally came to look. I swear, I've learned more about making attractive shot choices in this video than in all the videos on the other 66 channels I'm subscribed to, with the possible exception of Apple. But...I drool.

A joy to watch and listen to, Philip (have only just discovered your channel and marvel at your reviews and your so-English sense of humour). Have traveled quite a bit with the Mini 2 -my muletto drone to the M2P- and would argue that, used properly, results are way beyond those one would expect of a beginner’s drone. Hopefully its tech will continue to evolve and improve (sub-249 grams). Best travel drone money can buy.
