Kinda surprised you didn't give Marblehead a mention, since she technically came back from the dead and went on a world round trip to get home, plus just needs some comfortin' in her life

The best detail about the Campbeltown's raid on St. Nazaire was that the timed fuzes for the explosives clearly had a sense of comic timing... When the initial activity had died down, the captured commander of the Campbeltown was being interrogated by a German naval officer. As the officer was gloating about how "foolish" the British had been and how easy it would be to repair the damage caused by the raid, at that exact moment the explosives chose to detonate, obliterating the dock and a good number of German personnel with it. The commander reportedly quipped "We're not quite as foolish as you think!".

The truly funny thing about the Barb's taking out the train was that her commander should not have been given that tour. The American Navy had a rule that sub commanders were only supposed to do three combat patrols. However, this commander was "Lucky Fluckey, " who had won the Medal of Honor, and he wanted a fourth patrol... so they gave it to him.

Loved the shoutout to Barb. Her last skipper wrote an amazing book called “Thunder Below!” chronicling her war patrols under his command.

My great uncle was on the Hornet. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross with oak leaves, was the first person to carrier qualify on 3 aircraft in a day, and he trained the first night flying squadron!

Then a couple of decades after the Doolittle Raid, the USN landed a C-130 on USS Forrestal. A fully loaded C-130. Which was then able to take off from that spot while still loaded. The details from those carrier trials are nuts.

"The US Navy submarines are an incredible feat of arms!"
Dutch: *Am I a joke to you?!*

as someone who went to the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum, holy shit barb and balao class submarines were deadly. SH4 is a close second to SH3 as my favorite submarine game, and I have submarine Museum Whiskey Glass that I love. "Blind Man's Bluff", a book on Cold War submarine spying efforts is such an unbelievable read

Doolittle is the textbook example of "So crazy it has to work."

Also, US submarines started with the handicap of the MK 14 torpedo can you imagine the damage they would have done with working torpedos from the start

one story I wish world of warships could implement into the game was the story of the USS Texas (bb-35) flooding herself. she could have a farther range at a cost of her health being held and when it wears out, the health is returned

Fun fact: my Mom's cousin (although I call her my aunt) Nancy and her husband Tim own a boat called the Bismarck. When I learned that, I told Dad, "You know what this means, right?" He answered "Sink it?" I said "No, silly! Get a slightly smaller, visibly similar boat and name her Tirpitz!"

Hello again! My great grandfather was actually able to see the Doolittle Raid, since he was a member of the oil tanker that serviced the Enterprise. He also avoided Pearl Harbor by being with the Enterprise at the time, doing practice.

Commander Flucky (captain of the USS Barb): *serves 4 war patrols*
Also Commander Flucky: "Hey U.S Navy Command, let me serve a 5th war patrol"
U.S Navy Command: "Alright sure Flucky"
Commander Flucky: *proceeds to kill a fucking Japanese train and his crew the first American soldiers to step foot on Japanese soil*

She's not in WoWs sadly, but USS England's story is super interesting. Sunk 6 Japanese submarines in 12 days, was kamikazed off Okinawa, had a pretty wild time making it back to the States.

Too bad you weren't able to get a model of H.M.S Hood. Like everyone's favorite drunken pig did when he got them to sponsor one of his videos.

You should have gone over the USS Nevada, it EARNED the title unsinkable. Hit in pearl harbor? Tis a scratch. Hit by 2 nukes post war? Unfazed. Week of naval bombardment from multiple ships, including Iowa class battleships? It's just a flesh wound.
