So enjoyed the woodland walk. My grandmother had a huge wooded area in the Eastern TN mountains and she cut me loose every day when I was young. I wore my own paths all around and I actually was able to find some of them many years later as an adult! Such a sense of peace. Wish every child could have the experience, it builds confidence and gave me a quiet place to ponder. Thank you for inviting me back to my childhood for a bit. I'm in south TX in retirement now and I so miss the mountains and the woods and the peace especially in these trying times.

Great as usual. Glad I'm not the only one who uses wood chips.

Been doing woodchips for 7-8 years & would never do gardening any other way. I don’t have chickens so I take my kitchen scraps, pull back the mulch to the dirt, dump the scraps & smooth it out. Then I just cover them up with woodchips. Within 2-3 days, it’s gone. The worms go nuts over it. Also, your garden soil will get richer & richer as the yrs go by. Very few pest problems as well. 😊 I don’t dig to place my potatoes in the garden. I lay them on the garden bed & cover with 8-10 inches of woodchips. I have the most beautiful potatoes ever. Your strawberries? Cover them completely (just sticking out a tad) with woodchips in the fall when they look scraggly & come spring the babies will brake through & the old will decompose into compost. Maintenance free & absolutely the prettiest ever! I could go on about how wonderful woodchips are! Especially about the microrizal fungi & the soil life!
Happy Gardening!

Love the wood board idea. Definitely going to use that. The straight edge is perfect.

Yes! Once and done is my motto too. I hate thinning because I feel guilty for wasting a perfectly good plant.

Can’t wait to plant more carrots and other fall veg. It’s so hard to imagine fall though. 95° again today! We are suppose to finally start getting cooler temps on Friday though...82° lol. That will be such a welcomed change.

Hoping to have my beds done by next week! Got more than half the soil brought home and a full bed and a half of wood. I currently have a mountain on my driveway 😂. Having dreams come to fruition is the most satisfying feeling. Thanks for the video!! Have a blessed evening, Mark and fellow gardeners!🙏🏻🙌🏻💞

I let a local arborist dump their trees in a ravine on my property, and they also pile up yards and yards of wood chips for my garden. I love that the chips help build the soil over time, as well. You're absolutely right, wood chips are the best!

I love wood chips too! Our house was previously owned by an arborist and he left us a mound of wood chips thankfully.

Hi Mark!
I love the idea you showed with planting and mulching, the way you showed it was such a good way of doing it that way, i also use a plank on the garden beds it is really handy and helps keep the soil fluffy hehe, i can't believe its already that time of the year for fall crops and for me here spring crops, soon it will be my turn to use what i have learned from you and hope i can get the same results.
I have been loving all of your progress in the garden patch and all the tips and ways you have been sharing with us, i really appreciate it all thank you.
PS il be sending an email to you showing what i have in my mini greenhouse so far.

I planted my fall starts a few weeks ago and my fall seeds at the same time. I just won 10 pounds of Red Russian Garlic from a produce farm about 2 hours from me so I will pick them up this month and plant about 80 cloves mid October for a July harvest next year. Have wonderful evening.

Good idea about the soil ontop of the seeds. That would help keep them from being displaced if ypu were to rake the soil over them.

Coming up soon to putting in the fall winter garden here along the Gulf Coast. I will be using the bit about sprinkling soil over the carrot seed rather then agitating it in. Here using hooped row covers we can grow all winter as rarely do we drop under twenty degrees F. However we are entering a time of very erratic temps and rain.

I'm doing radishes! First time for me with them. I'm gonna be trying hydroponics with lettuce too. Just an aerogarden for now...if I like it, I'll make my own.
