Sorry but no... This way the other side can move and pivot around the clamp as can be seen. So you get uneven arc. Put the clamps on both ends of the curve. Not on the pole/piece of wood, or pin some small nails. Than rest against that two points and move the middle the amount you want.

I no longer need a 50' string to mark the circle radius. Excellent.

You’re better off using a pencil on a line of wire attached to the center of the circle.

I wouldn’t call it perfect but it works for some projects. For more accuracy use a drawing bow.

Let me give you a tip if you want to design a perfect arch use a template and only design half of that Arch then take it template flip it around and put it on the side you didn't mark because you're not going to get the exact same bend out of that piece of fiberglass I'm both sides exactly but if you only do one half and then trace it on the opposite side you get a mirror image works on any kind of design you make from a scallop design half circle Arch compound Arch

This is the perfect way to mark short arches. The longer the arches the more the ends tend to flatten out. These flat ends can become apparent to the eye. For perfect long arches I use Trammel points and layout on as large a space as needed.

I’m certain there are many Woodworker’s who do not know this I should’ve said younger Woodworker’s. But it is a really really really old solution. Yes I’m 77 years old
