I think this is a great printer for complete noobs who don't want to add all these essentially "necessary" upgrades. They don't want to rewire. Don't want to worry about compatibility issues ect. At this point I think this has all the bells and whistles and any update to the e3 lineup should be software/quality upgrades like the all metal sprite and other add-ons. Not new printers. Unless they go biger buildplate

I've had my S1 for about 3 weeks now. Never had a 3D printer before. It was pretty simple to put together and start printing. No issues at all right from the get go. There are still things on it that in the future maybe I'd want to upgrade like the hotend but besides that not much. Mine has been printing every day since I got it, no muss no fuss. Definitely better than getting a V2 and then upgrading all of those little things people complain about. If you're a dyed in the wool gotta modify everything tinkerer, then it's probably not your thing. If you want to buy a printer and start printing with no issues right off the bat, get one.

I just added this printer to my Ender 3v2 and Ender 3 Max and it was by far the most polished experience out of the box. Due to how new it is, there isnt a whole lot of modifications that can or even needs to be done to it (except it really should come with an all metal hot end) but i dont think thats necessarily a bad thing. A lot of people, especially beginners, get a little too far out in the weeds by installing upgrades before having a decent understanding of how they work, what to look for when prints fail and how to fix those failures. im guilty of this with my E3v2. It was my first printer and i upgraded to yellow springs, bl touch, micro swiss all metal hotend and all metal extruder within the first month i owned it and it printed like crap until i learned how to fix the basics and how to properly slice my files. with the E3S1, its been printing with no muss, no fuss since i unboxed it.

Thank you for this honest opinion! I think it's very important, that you say this, because for me, the 3d printer ist just a tool I want to use to get other projects done. I don't have the time and will to tinker on my 3d printer, so I'm glad with everything out of the box. I think the Ender 3 S1 is the best opinion for me, since I had to send back my Ender 3 V2...

honestly the USB-C port is kind almost worth it just because of that single feature.

I have one and it’s been flawless. This is my first printer and it’s been super simple and easy to use.

Thanks man your video was one of the ones that inspired me to actually buy this machine. I bought a used ender 3 with nothing but problems. This bad boy I head up and running in half an hour printing print that looks fantastic. Also your video Clogged sprite extruder is still the best one on the Internet thank you 🙏

I love that i have the choice and after buying an e3s1 i believe that i was ready for the bells and whistles and get right to printing the fact that it can still be upgraded is wonderful with a lazor or a all metal hot end you still can be happy with it right out of the box

I like the option. Started with the 3. Gave me the opportunity to overcome(still overcoming) the learning curve from a ground up perspective. But while I’m learning the world of mods, it nice to stay productive and have a reference in house of the goal I’m shooting for. 🤘

I've upgraded my ender 3 dozens of times. It's now a full Voron Switchwire clone. I'm even printing different colored versions of switchwire parts. I'm sure I'll be tinkering with it for as long as I'm into 3d printing. The new model seems perfect for people that want a affordable DD FDM printer. I might get one too because i don't have to tinker with all my printers.

Thanks for this. I'm one who prefers to have all the bells and whistles installed for me, so I will definitely be checking out the S1.

Getting my first 3d printer in over 10yrs (I have an Ultimaker Original) I opted for the S1 - its great but I have quickly bought a second new printer - this time the ender 3 Pro because of the excellent value it offers. And now I have both a direct drive and a bowden ender 3, which I could upgrade to DD later if I felt the need. But I doubt I will.

definitely a steep learning for people getting a printer for the first time if one of the features messes up.

I own an original Ender 3 Pro with a ton of upgrades(Linear Rail on all axes, Sprite Pro extruder, Sonic Pad...). I want to buy an Ender 3 S1 Plus for its larger build volume. Of course linear rails will be installed. And what else?

Ender 3 Pro here. But. 300Xl Ender Extender kit, 120v 750watt bed heater w/ insulation blanket, 40w 24v hot end heater, copperhead throat, SKR 1.4 turbo, CR-Touch, 3.5 touch screen, dcdc, Wi-Fi, but-writer. Guess since I don’t have garage to work on cars. My printer is my new past time😁

I have the Ender-3, Paid $199, thought it was a great price. Love the printer. Flawless prints too. Once I printed the filament guide, jamming stopped. This little printer is GREAT for the money. I have the CR-10S too. I want something with a nicer print. What do you recommend?

Jim, another of your good overview reviews. I think you made great points - this would be a good first printer - should work and do everything out of the box. I'm like you and want to start with bare metal and make it into what ever suits my needs and budget. I personally have gotten away from Creality - If I get another printer it will be the 500 cube Rat Rig or wait for the Prusa XL. My Ender 5 Plus with many mods and my 400 cube Rat Rig are my go to printers and I have 3 Ender 5's

I love my s1. I got a v2 a few months back. I hadn't done any of these upgrades that everyone's saying to do. So it's great for me. I have 1 fully modded one without me being a noob and messing up those upgrades. And have my v2 to slowly build up. Just added a bl touch I got real cheap. Next will probably be dual gear extruder. Keeping 1 bowden setup and 1 direct drive

The only thing I like about this machine is that Creality have finaly got the X Y offset for ABL correct and creating a uniform mesh, yet still have not corrected the ABL FW for all their other machines and instead leaving the community to repair their shortcomings!

If I had to start over. Ender-3 with aluminum extruder, All metal heat break, and a BL Touch. That would be the most upgrading I needed to do.
