In the comment section of "8 AWESOME songs in odd time signatures" someone wrote the legendary words: "I often play in π/4 by running in circles, but the vomiting can distract from the effect.".
I answered with: "Challenge accepted. Todo list: write a song in π/4"

A song written with the number Pi.
I created a custom metronome of which I took 3 normal beats, and one of 0.1415 times the length of one beat. This is a very short one, and for our perception (also due to the production) it feels more like an extended 3rd beat instead of an added short fourth.
The melody is an 8 bar sequence using the first 32 notes on every beat.
Besides these notable Pi occurrings, there are way more things where I used pi, like: -delay time, pre delay on reverbs, reverb time, compression ratios, thresholds, etc.

Okay, one last time for anyone feels the need to say that this is just 3/4. No, it's not. I created a custom metronome and recorded the entire song using that click track. the 4th beat is where normally the 1 would be, although is a short one (0, 1415 the duration of a normal beat), it definitely affects the timing and the length of the bar. The 1 is a little later then you would expect, which is giving it the real lazy feel. The length of the bar is 3.1415/4 to be exact. You are totally free not to like it, or to hate, or to love it, that is part of experimenting :) I am quite astonished by the result, and wouldn't have expected to create such complete song with those notes and time signature and at the same time it sounding not too bizarre or just random. My goal is to experiment and to entertain people with this song :) Half of the goal is achieved, the other one is coming along nicely :) So keep on sharing <3

What an oddly soothing song. The extra .14 beat takes it out of the waltz realm and makes it something else, like there's a really pronounced start to each bar.

To anyone who thinks this is 3/4 and not pi/4:

•Place your dominant hand on one leg so that your palm is flat against it.
•Then make a fist with your other hand and place that on your other leg.
•Then listen to this again, slapping your leg for the first 3 beats and hitting your other leg with your fist on the pi-th beat (where near the beginning of the video it uses "4" as a placeholder).

By doing this, you should hear quite clearly a small gap between each set of 3 equally-intervaled slaps - this is due to the beat not being 3/4, but pi/4.
