4:25 it's also an opportunity for the airline to "advertise" themselves on social media I would say! In the modern world today we can no longer deny the soft power of social media, with content creators and influencers changing how we see many things these days.

Furthermore when one wants to post themselves in uniform on socials doesn't that mean they're proud of their company or job? It will most likely spread positivity rather than negativity. Allowing them to do so can in fact boost their pride to be with the company. At the same time, restricting them to do so may potentially make one feel not as connected to their company as time goes by.

Sure back in the old days information aren't as easily available as how they are now in the world of social media, issues are also more likely to be blown up these days. For instance, Singapore Airlines have a policy where crew are even not allowed to wear their uniform outside airport/hotel transfer. For instance they have to change to their own clothes before taking public transport when they get to work/back home, and no way they can wear their uniform at other public places as well. Let alone posting themselves in uniform on socials.

To complicate matters, thing is that media broadcasts when SQ crew commit offences are unavoidable, like one case last year at Tokyo's Narita where a stewardess stole some items from a local store that's just worth about 60 USD for goodness sake and even bit the security guard's arm. How disgusting that is especially when the airline has been using the Singapore Girl as the face of the airline for decades. Having a crew member posting themselves say casually dancing to a trending song/tune, or enjoying a meal with their at their newfound colleague friends at their layover destination in uniform is definitely nothing as compared to whatever that happened in Narita.

To be fair, I think the no uniform on social media rule is actually a good rule. In this day and age having some control over their image and avoiding mass consumption of something they want to keep exclusive is difficult. It prevents people from using the uniform to gain clout in my opinion.

Thank you Alexander for such an informative video. I'm so happy to hear about these new changes. Sounds like Qatar Airways is now a good company to work for (hopefully).

Hi Alex, thanks for your video. I'm following you since a while, and did applied for Middle Eastern airlines in the past, without being selected since 2022. Not long time ago I joined to ship industry and my cv more stronger than before. U think I would have better chance to be selected or having an advantage (ex: crew visas, safety, etc) for an interview. Regards, a follower.
