Today, we're diving into the mysterious world of the Khazars - an ancient civilization that's full of surprises.

Imagine a time when they guarded the Silk Road, a hub of trade, and lived in the cosmopolitan capital of Atil. This place had it all: Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and pagan communities all coexisting!

But here's the twist: Most folks in Atil lived in nomad tents, and the exact location is still a mystery.

What's even cooler is their open-mindedness about religion. They let each religious group do their own thing, which was pretty rare back then.

Now, where did they come from? That's a puzzle! Were they Turkic, or something else? Their language is a mystery too!

Stay tuned as we uncover the secrets of the Khazars in bite-sized chunks. Don't forget to hit that subscribe button so you won't miss a thing!

the khazars were a wandering nomadic turkic tribe, being cast out of central asia and then proceeded to set up their khazar empire in what is now eastern europe, being sandwiched between the christian empire & the islamic caliphate, their conversion to judaism in the year 740 CE under their king kagan bulan, was a political marriage of convenience that turned into identity theft of the real jews

Khazaria is the last Chechen state of Haz Are, which means Beautiful Territory.
As the Persian Istakhri writes in the 10th century, - “The language of the Hazars differs from the language of the Turks and Persians.”

Overall good. This video is wrong to claim around 6:21 that Atil (the elites' city) and Itil (diverse population) were two distinct cities. Atil and Itil are merely two different spellings of the same place. The narrator meant to distinguish between Atil and Khazaran.

The Semibugry archaeological site that has been explored since 2019 probably represents the remnants of Atil, and the adjacent Baraniy Bugor site that of Khazaran.
