Feelings of anxiety or being scared cause a person with Alzheimer's to behave in ways that are challenging to you as a caregiver. Please understand that it's not personal. The person going through the disease is just doing the best they can, and we need to adjust our care to them.

There isn't a rule book that says there's one right way to respond to any behavior. I encourage you to be creative and engage other family members or friends to help develop ideas for managing best any behavior you find challenging. Multiple "big brains" are best for helping a person with a failing brain.

As someone who had a stroke from a brain aneurysm, not being able to remember anything is supremely frightening.
