quick simple trick drill 2 holes on each side near the indicator area , thousands of people suffer from headlight issue due to trapped warm air turning into water causing condensation, the issue is people only take caps off or take lights out and reseal this only works temporarily in most cases.

I'm wiping outer rain off with a cloth in the video to show you there's no condensation whatsoever, being a crappy wet day so ignore the wiping .

These 2 holes allow the air around the top to escape so all the air is expelled out , don't worry about rain getting in the rain doesn't lead around those areas at all , give it a good few hours till the next day you will have clear new lights again no matter what the weather snow , icy , rain , so many methods have been used to try the condensation method , THIS IS THE ONLY ONE THAT WORKS ! don't waste time sealing etc just do the 2 x 20mm holes in each side then get on with your life without worrying again.
if you have the ballast still do the 2 holes and use air dryer through 1 of the holes give it a good hour to dry any water off at the ballast then your done the holes will do the rest , you can put 1 cap on the bottom but id leave at least 1 off for air along with the 2 holes , so save yourself lots of time and headaches , get the drill out and get them done , thank me later 😁

I have this issue on my insignia. Just to be clear - all I need to do is drill the 2 holes and the condensation / water will disappear on its own??

Do the holes be drilled just through the black plastic or right through ?

I have the mk1 with the dredded Hella Xenon headlights. Both full of condensation. Both ballasts full of water.

For anyone who is going through the same isses this video is a good idea.

I also removed the lights and drilled plenty of holes along the leading edge under the light casing (black). Be very carefull not to drill intot he light or any wires be very careful.

Water ingress into the ballasts via the holes where the contacts housing clips into the casing (you will see them if you look) sillicone them.

Use a flat head screwdriver to scrape out all the old seal around the light housing. Follow the gap and fill it with sillicone.

Use Captain Tollys creeping crack cure on the hedldights to fill and micro cracks.

Time will tell.

Bad lights on the Insignia! Have to replace most of them after 10 years! No trick will solve the problem.
