MOST UNDERRATED BEAUTY TIP told by a beauty guru #makeupshorts #tiktokviral #beautytok #makeupreview

If you’re new here, hi! My name is Alexis, & I have about 17+ years of experience in the beauty industry first starting as a make up artist in retail, beauty corporate, & even as a consultant alongside some of your favorite influencers & celebrities to bring their beauty products to life. (I also started my own lipstick company @Fempower Beauty but more on that later 😊).

My wife, Christina, recorded me in late Dec 2022 evaluating the @makeupbymario surreal skin foundation at @sephora guessing where it’s made, & it started to go viral. And every time she asked me to evaluate product, I continued to go viral! It’s been history ever since with our new fam here on TikTok! Christina often asks me questions out of the blue, & I never quite know what she’s going to ask me. I always used to question why creators didn’t really talk about touching, feeling, and truly evaluating a beauty product before it’s applied on the face. As a beauty product developer & educator, this is some thing I do every single time I interact with the new beauty product so I can get to understand everything about how it was designed, it’s intention, & therefore how I am about to apply & what tool I would use, if any. I just picked up this new @Patrick Ta Beauty She’s Bronze at the Sephora sale & I give you a quick example here.

I pride myself here on this channel to bring my beauty products evaluations to you, not just make up applications to the face. In fact, most of the videos, you will see me evaluating, sometimes without an application to the face. For the record, I’ve also seen a lot of creators talk about where beauty products are me without an understanding of what that really even means. Understanding where they are made is actually part of the evaluation process that I teach you about here. That’s because my goal is to teach you how to become your own beauty, product evaluator so that you can understand how beauty products are designed & HOW they should work for you. So, if you’re new here, welcome! And if you’ve been following us for a while, you already know… We do beauty product evaluations here, NOT reviews. 😘

I agree! However, I think so many makeup creators have so many filters on their skin that it all ends up looking the same. I always appreciate creators that allow skin texture to show.

Just watched over 50 of ur videos (YT Shorts). And I wna say on ALL OF THEM how intelligent you are. Love the educating. The full scope of what u provide. It's clear you've been in your industry for so many years. (I wish I could go shopping with you & get your recommendations on products based off my skin tone, goals, trouble areas, daily routine, etc.)

Also to make sure you don’t have a bad reaction to an ingredient!

I'm 53 and you've taught me more about makeup than I've learned in half a century 😂😂

SCREAM THIS FROM THE ROOFTOP!! I've often times thought that reviews would be so much for compelling if creators and influencers did some "groundwork" in understanding a product before applying it. If you don't understand ingredients, then work on texture.

I love how you explain makeup.. I’ve learned more from you in probably the 15 minutes of shorts I’ve watched of yours that 30 yrs of having and owning my own makeup. Watching hours of videos and wondering why my makeup still looks like crap and I go back to the same routine.. now if I could only afford the good stuff

Some people have specific tools they like. If a product doesn’t work with it then usually they try other things. I feel like it’s ok to just jump in with routine brushes because a product could fit in and if not you tweak it with the product and make adjustments

Love this suggestion. A lot of times I wonder if it's an interaction with my other make up, too, like is it the foundation interacting with it, or was the swatches represented altered from what I ordered on the website. I love this tip, totally helps you to know what to expect. I love your tips!

I love the way we can step back here and emerse ourselves in the moment suck in the knowledge and really respect the process I think we all get so caught up in the plug and play that if something isn’t immediately working for us tendencies lean more toward throwing more money at the problem or dismissing the product we haven’t really gotten to know yet😅

I made the mistake of ruining my base or having to do a lot of correcting after so i learned my lesson 😂 now i always do this and choose my tools wisely.

This! I always wondered how many creators don't touch the product before applying it. I need to know what i am working with in terms of product.

I always did this but i think it comes from my artist painters brain. Play with materials first.
