The Wisdom of Odin is a vlog of my journey through Norse Paganism, a way to assist others along their journey, and a place to promote a positive image for all of paganism.
While I personally declare myself as a Norse Pagan, I speak on topics that also involve aspects of Asatru, Heathenry, and other pagan identities such as Slavic/Celtic/Germanic paganism.

The Wisdom of Odin is not associated or affiliated with any orginizations religious or politcial in nature. This channel/community is inclusive to all but is also non-political.

All gatherings held through the Wisdom of Odin and its extended community are private events held and organized by the members of the community. The only service the Wisdom of Odin provides is a place to connect with others of similar beliefs in the old ways.

Nice altar! I can’t wait to get a new apartment next spring so I can set up a new altar and practice more.

Keep in mind, none of this stuff is required have an altar! It can be as simple as a bowl, a candle and a drinking horn. However you feel close to the vættir and the gods, is the way you should build it.

Thank you for sharing your ritual space. Truly beautiful. The leaf was my favorite part. One year right as leaves began to turn colors I found several maple leaves that each one had 3 colors in it. I immediately laminated them and now they've become permanent additioms to seasonal decorations with my Coven

My altar took many many years to grow to what it is now. Definitely take your time and connect to what you desire and what you get for the space.

Good points about the ancestors having space outside for altars. I'd add that they may have had an indoor space, but the information may just not have survived. We know that other Indo-European practices that were the cousins of Germanic/Norse paganism often had indoor personal or family "hearth" altars, and small statues of the gods that seem small for outdoor areas but perfect for indoor ones have been found.

I am new to this path so I have no runes, altar, etc... Thank you for all of the informative videos that you have posted. Is there a video on how to read runes and/or how to utilize them?

Nice video!
I absolutely think we used to have altars. My mother's great grandmother had an altar that she used in our ancestral house. While that altar was a combination of ancestor-worship and Christianity, I think it's a tradition that was corrupted/influenced by christianity. It was a very nice old altar though with old sketches etc of ancestors..letters from ancestors who moved to USA etc. While she was a Christian, my understanding is that my mom's grandmother still believed in many of our old traditions, putting out porridge etc. on the porch outside the house and giving back to nature and animals around the farm. I've just started my journey of making an altar etc. I've waited til I thought it was time and it's been five years now and I feel ready.

If your heart is in the right place, even if you have nothing on your altar. You're saving a spot for the gods and the objects will come if your heart is in the right place in your mind is on the gods they will send the objects. You just have to be patient and they'll come. Even if there's nothing on your altar you've saved a spot for them and in your heart.

Good video. I love those little vials. I keep a box of empty vials and carry one with me when I go out on hikes in case I find something cool that I think would make a good offering. I've got some beach sand and water from the beaches in my hometown for Njord, and I have a couple vials full of some of the mead I make and I just refill it every so often.

I've got my hand carved idol of Hel, a hand carved wooden box with an engraving of Yggdrasil on it which my brother gave me.
An axe that my father gave me, a knife that I had hand forged to my specifications by Mountain Dwarf Forge.
A deer antler that I found on a hunting trip with my brothers, father, and uncle.
My offering bowl, a candle, my runes, and a mat that I use to set it all on.
