How To Compare Excel Files and Find Differences

How to compare two Excel sheets and find differences between them.

In this video I'm going to show you how to compare two separate excel files and find the differences between them. We'll compare for both separate Excel files and separate worksheet tabs in the same Excel file as well. First, we'll do this using the COUNTIF function, where every time there's a 0 as a result, there's a difference betwen the two worksheets. Second, we'll do this by setting up a new rule with conditional formatting so the different values get highlighted. Thirdly, we'll do this with a complex IF formula so we can see the 2 different answers when they're not matching. Finally, as a bonus, we'll use the spreadsheet compare tool to find the differences.

Great video! However I believe the easiest way to do all this without any formulas is to simple enable the Microsoft Inquire add in within Excel. It will give you a report of all differences: formulas, formatting cell content etc

Love the conditional formatting one as I didn't know how you would apply that.
I normally use = TabA (cellRef) =TabB on cell to return True /False!

The second method is the best; you can define which header/column should be unique. The first and third methods could cause errors.

but in this case, sheets and rows of order number are identical, what if the order numbers are jumbled, then these methods would not work?

Can you help me fix my graph? I am using clustered charts with primary axis and secondary axis to stack until sold and unit price for 3 types of products for 4 locations. One of the products secondary axis number ($7.5M) is bigger than primary axis number (7 sold units). So in the chart, the 2nd axis covering/over lapping the primary axis. How do I fix it? I added invisible value column and useing max formula. Added it to both primary and secondary axis. Still doesn’t work. Please help
