Hello! I'm from Portugal and just like you I've learned most of my English through YouTube and instead of series I played a lot of videogames. English has been present in my life for a long time, mostly due to the internet but I still don't feel confident to do the cae. I'll be taking the exam on Saturday but I'll mostly depend on luck tbh. I've studied the structure, been doing some texts and mock exercises but sometimes I fail, sometimes I do sufficient, sometimes I'm excellent.

I started learning Japanese around a year ago but stopped during the last two months to dedicate a little more to English. I can say without a doubt that immersing yourself in content of your liking is the best way to keep motivated to do so.

I think she is not the rule, commonly you must prepare yourself for the exam at least some months before taking the exam, even though you’ve got a high level of English you need to be familiar with the test, especially the use of English part, so that you use the time more effectively. I wouldn’t recommend what she did. It is wiser to study hard, especially considering that the exam is costly and failing would imply reinvest on another exam.

I have my CAE in 3 days and I'm not sure if i'll pass, I am starting to worry now. My weaknesses are listening, reading or use of english depending on the topic (what I mean is that depending on the topic I can do it pretty good or suck at it). I will update when i do it and when I get my mark! Wish me luck!!!

I'll seat the exam two weeks from now, portuguese is my native language (Brazilian Portuguese tbh). I have had contact with english my whole life because my mom speaks fluently since she lived in the UK for 4 years.
