XTOL vs Rodinal

I mix the two 100ml Xtol stock+400ml water with 5ml of Rodinal, a pinch of Borax. I particularly like Pan F and Tmax 400 with the mix.

A quick question, have you ever measured out (by weight) partial batches of developer? For instance make a quart of XTOL rather than a gallon.

You have introduced some developers I would like to try. But I would never use them up before they went bad if I made the complete packet of the developer.

How do they affect dynamic range?

Also, if you dilute Rodinal at 1:100 (maybe more) and use it for stand development (1h+) it can reduce graininess. I don’t know how it compares to xtol though.

Doesn't look that different in this example. Would be more interesting to test the complete opposite developers to each other. For example D-19 VS POTA on the same film.

Some film just doesn't work well with Rodinal. E.g. HP5 comes out too grainy.

Xtol has better speed, less grain, and better sharpness
