When you’re a kid, it might look like it's great fun to work at a Disney park. However, the truth of the matter is that it’s often quite difficult. Even the employees who get to play the beloved Disney princesses have it tough. While they thankfully don’t have to walk around wearing a big Donald Duck head, they still work very hard.

For example, these actors must stay in character at all times and might even take voice lessons to make sure they sound exactly right. From the ridiculously selective audition process to the ways in which they handle creepy park guests, let’s take a look at what it’s really like to work as a Disney princess.

I once heard a cast member playing character say, “when I’d hug a child, I’d be the one to let them let go, because you never know how much that child needed that hug.”

I remember seeing "Cinderella " accidentally fall into a fountain. Talk about thinking on the fly! She was with "Prince Charming " and the two "Stepsisters " and the four improvised dialogue on the spot, staying in character as Cinderella was "Rescued " by her Prince while the stepsisters made catty comments about her accident, such as how "clumsy " she was, etc.

This job does seems very demanding. I am too sensitive for this job. People admire princesses and if someone comes to tell me something psychological I would be hurt, you need to be very strong for this job.

I’m shocked their employees don’t sue Disney more often for poor working conditions

I’m thinking of how many times Elsa is asked to use her powers and has to improvise an answer.

My Sister has this Job about 2 Years. For her it was the best experience. Now she works in a Gunsmith Shop.

At a department store opening, Disney had sent the exact same woman that played Cinderella at the parks. Two middle-aged women rushed up to her during the event and said with great excitement, "We met you at the park two years ago! Do you remember us?" Cinderella replied sincerely without missing a beat, "Of course! How are you both? Thank you, it's great seeing you again." The women were thrilled at being remembered. Cinderella's expression was sincere and her answer was timed perfectly. She did way better than I would've. My first reaction would've been, "After meeting 50, 000 guests for the past two years, you're kidding, right?"

Disney: Tinkerbell has to be 4’11-5’1
Me at 4’10: I’m too short to play a fairy?! Wtf?!

It got really hard just to watch. I can't imagine being under all that pressure all the time. Props to them for surviving seriously.

As brutal and damning as the audition process and job is, i think the reward outweighs it all because you know that what you're doing is bringing happiness to so many people from so many walks of life

My wife and I (no children) and we went to a restaurant not knowing it was a character meal. There was an Alice actress with a Mad Hatter actor that were absolutely amazing at improv. I was totally blown away by how well they made up movie-centric dialogue relevant to the situation. We thoroughly enjoyed the event!
