I had the nintendo power guide book for FE7. It didn’t contain any hints for beating hector hard mode and some of the recommendations were a lil iffy in hindsight’s. But it did contain, at the very end of the book, some “secret” strats like using rescue chains to carry the effect of ninian’s grace turn to turn and i wouldnuse that to arena abuse power level my characters and just trivialize the whole game.

My first experience with a Hard mode was Sacred Stones, so that was a great way of getting my feet wet. I haven't touched a Normal mode since.
That said, I was in for a *nasty* surprise when I got to PoR's final boss for the first time!

Loved Hard Mode as a kid.
Normal mode is the first playthrough, Hard mode is the second playthrough.

As an adult today, Maddening is infuriating at times but pretty satisfying to beat once you get the hang of it.

I'm scared of Thracia 776 in general, that one really made me think I REALLY wanna give up everytime I start a new chapter. It's been 7 months and im still stuck at chp 19

I can guarantee that your kid self would've despised Chapter 14 of Binding Blade, all that stuff you mentioned plus a turn limit. Also I feel the same about being afraid to try out harder FE difficulties. Slowly I'm wading my toes in the harder difficulties so I guess progress

I was also scared of the harder difficulties until I finally tried it on Sacred Stones, then went back and played the previous games on hard. Wasn't as bad as I had thought and made it more enjoyable 😄

Hard mode Let me introduce you to the boss maddening walks in

First game I beat on hard was Awakening, first I beat anything above hard was Fates (Revalations, specifically).

Now I'm doing challenge runs on Engage Maddening. One of my favorites was Alear+Anna only on all maps starting chapter 10 - any other units that you can't deselect, you unequip and just spam wait on - and I only allowed myself to clear one DLC map (Tiki's) with a team of 5 - adding in Framme, Etie, and Alcryst, for healing and flier oneshotting. Anna was quickly turned into a Vantage, Wrath (initially Hold Out), Reprisal (from Veronica's bracelet) Sage with a Thoron+5. Alear used Camilla's bracelet to become a terrain bot, using the flame vein to safely lower Anna's HP when Hold Out wasn't equipped.

My favorite support in the game HAS to be Ivy and Panette's.

Having Panette try to get Ivy to get over her fear of ghosts is so dumb that I love it lol. And having Ivy and Panette sing a song together was definitely a cherry on top.

My first FE hard mode experience was on conquest and I almost went mad on chapter 10. I took a 2 months break and I finally did it. I was 22 at the time (I play since sacred stones).

First Fire Emblem game I've beaten on Hard was Awakening when Normal Mode was my go to difficulty.

Now I can't play on Normal difficulty on any FE game (aside from maybe Conquest) without getting bored so I default to Hard lol.
