I saw Sidney Poitier when he and Harry Belafonte came to my grade school in Harlem in 1967 i was in the 5th grade they perform there on assembly day that was a big treat for us.

Sidney Poitier came to little Sparta Illinois for filming of In The Heat Of The Night. People in Sparta had nothing but kind words for Poitier. He made a whole lot of new fans during his time there.
