Tide coming from a consistent direction… I can’t imagine too many scenarios where I’d want to use two anchors for less than 6 hours. At least not on a yacht, but thank you for the perfect description as ever:)

I've never really thought of an anchor as something that could be damaged. Lost, sure, but not damaged.
