Even with a fine textured roller, the paint never ends up looking sprayed on or like a factory finish. Wouldn't it be better to use an additive like Flowtrol or another product to allow the paint to lay down before ridges dry in place?

The title is a bit of B.S. no repair was done here just painting. Having said that.. Call me old school, but I ALWAYS paint my woods with oil not latex (rare exceptions) and especially window "sills" or apron. Add some Japan dryer to your oil paint if you live in a high humidity region (florida, Texas, etc.) to ensure a solid cure and some flowtrol to smooth brush marks. Self priming paint is such a GIMMICK for the lazy. Prime with KILZ and then top coat with OIL PAINT. The only way to roll paint on a door or Apron and to make it look "sprayed from factory" is to use a Mohair roller. With properly conditioned paint it will flow out and look smooth with its short nap. These guys are more of a comedy show than serious painters even for the average joe DIYer.

I have damaged interior window sills but not that bad to have replaced. Can I use bondo then sand prime/paint them after? or what type of wood filled works best?
