काम एष क्रोध एष रजोगुणसमुद्भ‍वः ।
महाशनो महापाप्मा विद्ध्येनमिह वैरिणम् ॥ ३७ ॥

śrī-bhagavān uvāca
kāma eṣa krodha eṣa
rajo-guṇa-samudbhavaḥ
mahāśano mahā-pāpmā
viddhy enam iha vairiṇam

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: It is lust only, Arjuna, which is born of contact with the material mode of passion and later transformed into wrath, and which is the all-devouring sinful enemy of this world.

Lust born out of passion, develops anger, greatest enemy of this world. And its Lust that makes us do sinful actions.
Mode of passion must be elevated to mode of goodness by following scriptures else if its all unrestricted, we will stay entangled. But the moment, loving entity comes in contact with a devotee, spiritual life starts and we begin to rise on spiritual platform and gain our service nature. What's the force that sway away a person from duties and make him unwillingly do sin?
Lust born out of mode of passion. Unfulfilled lust causes anger. It's all devouring, sinful and dangerous. Like milk gets transformed to yogurt by the sours, love is transformed to lust by material contaminations. Rain water is pure at the starting but muddy when falls in the ground.

It is lust which induces the pure living entity to remain entangled in the material world.
This material creation is created by the Lord to give facility to the conditioned souls to fulfill these lustful propensities, and when completely baffled by prolonged lustful activities, the living entities begin to inquire about their real position.
