A great jumpscare ruined by the trailer

I don't know how so many people didn't think this was scary, I thought it was the single scariest jumpscare I've ever seen, was waiting for her to squat down smiling and just was not ready

The best part about how this is crafted is how the sister walks up to the car, arms crossed, believable mannerisms and body language... but the main character's eyes are closed! She doesn't see her sister approach, so that deception is for the audience's benefit. It makes you think "that must be her real sister, otherwise why bother with the act?" but then BAM, demon. There were also multiple scenes before this one where out-of-focus faces made you think it was the demon but it turned out not to be, so that wasn't a giveaway either. This movie maintained its uncertainty and suspense very well and the jump scares were actually well earned.

This is one of the best crafted jumpscares I've ever seen. Perfectly built tension, then using the camera focus to hide her face as she approached the car, THEN the complete subversion of expectations at the end. It was one of the highlights of the movie for me

It's a funny jump scare in comparison to other horror, but given that this is a semi psychedelic / schizophrenic themed horror I think this fits perfectly. Scary doesn't have to equal gore, sometimes it can be something inhumanly possible like this yknow?

This litreally send an ACTUAL chills down my spine when I first watched the movie. I never scream when watching a horror movie, but when my heands are all sweaty, my head hurts, and the jumpscare in the movie makes me jump and sends a chill then you know that I'm scared. I was in this state thourgh the entire movie just as I saw the Laura's suicide scene. Now every time when I see this fucking face of the movie it instantly activates my fight or flight response. Great movie!
