Real Doctor Takes A Career Test...

Growing up I wanted to be one of two things: a doctor or a detective. So, I finally sat down and took an official career aptitude test from the United States Government to see which professional path I was best suited for. It was not a surprise to see that my results turned up mostly medical options, such as Acupuncturist, Nurse, and even Family Medicine Doctor! I also took a Buzzfeed quiz and those results were… less reliable. Take the tests yourself and let me know which career you landed on!

I know this may seem silly but this video literally changed my life. Shortly after this video was uploaded, I took the US Department of Labor's quiz after seeing Mike take it. That spur-of-the-moment decision got me back into school-- I'll be getting my transfer degree after the summer quarter and attending an online school run by one of the major universities in my state just in time for summer. Thanks to that motivation I started working again and met someone special. We've moved in together in an entirely different city since he graduated not long after we met and got a job quickly. Today we celebrated our one year of being together.

Though I doubt he'll ever see this because it is an older video now, I just wanted to thank Dr. Mike. It may have just been a fun, fleeting moment to him but had he not inspired me to look into something more I think my life would probably still be on that depressive trajectory that it had been before. I truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I don't give credit completely to this silly video as I was the one who had to push through all my difficulties, but I do acknowledge that little spark that it sent through me.

If you've read all this, the career the US Government chose for me was an Art Therapist.
