Julie Klausner - Silence
Silence is the first single published from Miss Klausner’s 2022 live solo show, “Medleys and Other Variants.” It began as a goof on a flimsy premise: what if Kate Bush CBE, a phenomenal, ethereal and otherworldly-talented artist, were to adapt Silence of the Lambs into a stage musical. Naturally, Kate's obsessions with body functions (Moving, 1978; Breathing,1980) would manifest themselves lyrically, and her scansion of some sections of Wuthering Heights might reprise. The rest of Silence picked up where parody/ satire/ whatever left off, and soon became its own insane thing. With Eli Bolin’s virtuosic composition and Julie challenging herself to be as stupid as possible lyrically and as proficiently expressive vocally, we soon arrived at the recording studio of Christian Cassan, who produced and played on the track as though it were a Serious Business early 80s rock single. We pray to Goddess Kate it tickles your funny bones and blesses your ear drums in tandem.
