Music to my ears - we bought our 2022 Model Y 3 months ago and plan to hold it for 20 years
We only put on 10, 000 miles a year, so that would be 200, 000 miles
and hopefully, the only maintenance is windshield wiper fluid and tires

My parents had 3 gas vehicles with similar mileage; one needed a new engine and all 3 had heavy ongoing maintenance. I had a 200k mile V6 Mustang that blew its head gasket on a long freeway trip and fried the motor. I’m looking forward to affordable electric cars for my future purchases.

I retired and just started to use my 2018 M3 LR for Uber eats. I have only 45k on my car. Fully charged and got 309 miles. In 2018 fully charged I got 310 miles so essentially no degradation. Just bought 4 new Goodyears and that’s it besides rainX wiper fluid added twice in four years

97% left after 100, 000 miles! That's a serious serious figure for any car enthusiast!

I have a Hyundai Ioniq 5 which is an ex international chauffeur car and after 90000 miles the cars runs smooth, no issues and range is still the same when was new. It shows how much our battery technology improved the last decade especially these newer ones with 800 volt. Auto regeneration function on this car is unbelievably fantastic. Good video and greetings from London.Hope your family is well.Take care Buddy

In Spain a Model 3 taxi with 320, 000 km (200, 000 miles) and 10% degradation in less than 3 years, with the original battery...
Modern batteries with good temperature control are great.

One thing that is little talked about is that the drive motors in the Model 3 were first designed for and is exactly the same as the ones found in the Tesla Semi and are built to last 1M miles hauling 40 ton loads. Imagine how long it will last, this exact same motor, in a car that weighs in at barely 4K lbs. The rest of the car is built to the same uber high standards. The model 3 is likely the last car that you will ever have to buy, ever!

For most folks 500, 000 km represents 30 year of usage. Insane that the battery only has 20% degradation. Imagine buying a $50, 000 EV, keeping it for 30 years and saving $4, 000 of gas, maintenance and repairs every year. Final cost = -$70, 000. Instead of buying a new car every decade you could buy two for your entire lifetime.

That's amazing.
I can tell you about my beloved Hilux that has 330000km. It's had countless break pad, rotor changes, starter motor, alternator, diesel injectors $$ and CV changes.
Now I mostly use my PEV EUC Inmotion V8F to get to work, cheap to run and the only wearing part is the tyre.

I bought a Model 3 SR+ in early 2020 for Uber. Been using it heavily in Canberra and Sydney. Also taken it on 6 holidays to Moree and 2 laps of the Snowy Mountains Highway. Currently at 224, 226km

It just keeps going.

I've had to get the air con system cleaned out twice. Leaf litter accumulates around the condenser, causing my cabin to get & stay moist, and causing the air con to run at full power constantly, draining my range. After each cleanout my range bounces right back where it should be.

I had a warranty replacement on my charge port very early on.

I had a post-warranty campaign (i.e free) replacement on my front upper control arms when steering got really squeaky at low speeds in wet weather.

A few times I've had to replace the undertray particleboard aero shields, as they get really soggy and rip to shreds during foul weather, such as when I hydroplane. It breaks apart and starts dragging on pavement. Sounds weird. But they're not very pricey, and I believe they switched to plastic on newer models.

Oh, and the 12 volt battery dies in 2-3 years, depending on usage habits.

Everything else I've spent has been for fairly trivial stuff.

This is the best news! I have 301k miles on a 2007 GM SUV we bought off a 2 1/2 year lease for $25k and it had 20k miles. This was the last day of December 2009. Until recently I drove 25k/year so since purchasing this vehicle I’ve paid for it three times: original purchase, outrageous and frequent repairs including a new engine (after two in warranty rebuilds), and lots of gasoline. To answer Sam’s longevity question, my benchmark is a 1998
Crown Victoria which has over 400k miles on its original engine. That’s common for those vehicles but they were discontinued in 2011 without a successor. Looks like my next ride will be a Tesla. Thank you for all you do on your channel!!

It's becoming apparent that these cars are extremely durable....and cheap to run. I suspect that Hertz is going to continue to produce data that makes this clear.

I've had my Model Y for 2 months now. I only charge at home and only to 80%. I drive 120 miles per day. I have saved approximately $600 in gas so far. I am hopeful that the battery will last the life of the car. I am curious to see if someone comes up with a DIY kit to convert the battery to home energy storage after the car wears out.

There was a Volvo 245(I think) which had done over 400, 000 miles when it came to my attention about 20 years ago. When stripped down, its cylinders, pistons, bearings, etc, showed very little wear. It had been driven carefully and had only received routine maintenance and its share of new brake pads and tyres.
but that car was the exception, rather than the rule.

Gettin my Tesla model 3 in next 2 weeks, LFP battery, Elon says, drive train for this model is built like for a commercial truck, 1 million mile drive train.
For this battery to replace modules would only cost 5 to 7 thousand.

Yes, my Prius has had nothing go wrong with it after 300, 000km, except for battery swap outs every 3 years or so (costs about ~$1, 000). Apart from self-servicing the oil change (which costs me about $15 to do myself and takes about 40 minutes), it's still on its original brake pads because of regen braking. The ICE is fine, basically because the ICE is operating as a battery generator. I'll keep driving it till it dies or until petrol is no longer a thing. Then I'll get a Tesla.
