If you're in the market for a supermini-based crossover there's a good chance the Peugeot 2008 will be on your shopping list. In this CarGurus Used Car Review, Chris Knapman takes a closer look at the 2008 to see how it fares for practicality, as well as highlighting any common issues to be aware of when buying used.

Written review:

Pros
Very comfortable ride
Well finished cabin
Excellent electric version

Cons
Not cheap to buy
Fiddly infotainment system
Rear seats don't slide

The CarGurus verdict
It isn’t hard to see why compact SUVs like the 2008 are becoming increasingly popular; they offer all the space of a family car with the dimensions of a smaller model, making them more manageable around town, and with an added dash of cleverness thrown in.

Among them, the 2008 is one of the better offerings, with plenty of all-round talent and lots of smart design. It doesn’t come cheap, though, which is why we advise sticking with the more affordable versions.

Do that, and you’ll benefit from a smooth-driving, upmarket-feeling little SUV with a decent spread of equipment on board, and punchy engines that don’t chow down too much fuel. In electric form it’s even better, though of course, it’s also even more costly to buy.

Just purchased a 2014 with 28k on the clock. One owner and fully serviced from dealership it was bought from new. The car genuinely feels like new and really loving it.

Had our 16 plate, 3 years now, still love it, still get 52 mpg on motorway 44 mpg urban and that's a petrol engine, road tax just gone up to £21 per year. Great boot space, Good seats, great tech on board, no reliability problems so far, 55000 up now. Downside, choppy ride at low speeds but not as bad as the juke, we intend to keep ours till it drops, still looks modern, suits our needs. Best small suv around in our view.

Not sure what the point to the cockpit wheel is? I can tell you from experience. It is far, far better, that's what! This is really, really good / brilliant car.

Just bought a used one today with less than 20k miles, really impressed with it but anxious to keep the interior pristine 😩😂

The point of the small wheel is to further increase the visibility when driving (front view). Look how tall he is sitting at 1:52 vs the dashboard. I have this car and the frontal visibility and lateral windows are 10/10 !
