I'm a pharmaceutical representative and drive a lot of rentals, I do have to say even pre-facelift 2008 interior is years ahead of most of competition!

We bought our 2008 Allure new in Oct 2020 for £18k, seems a bargain now when the new one costs £27k. Been really pleased with ours, very reliable, economic and comfortable.

Did around 500km in the car with automatic transmission. Literally nothing wrong with it, infact very smooth. Take a look at the review from top gear from 30th October.. they say and i quote: "More relevant is how hushed it is on a motorway cruise and just how flipping good the eight-speed automatic is. A bit of us dies inside saying it, but it’s a better choice than the manual." Don't believe everything you hear in these review form what car as the reviewer appears anything but objective... just arrange a test ride and see for yourself.

You are the first reviewer who I have seen to slate the gearbox. The test drive I had in one was polar opposite of your review, so much so I ordered one and will take delivery in a weeks time. I am 5' 8" and managed to get a great driving position using the hight adjustment in the seat and steering wheel adjustment. I had no issues with the stop start. Even before ordering I thought it was probably the best looking cars in that segment.

You're criticism of the automatic gearbox is 100% unwarranted. It's a wonderful vehicle with a fantastic gearbox. I've had zero issues with it.

I have a GT auto and haven’t found any problem with the gearbox, in fact I find it very smooth and only notice the change from 1st to 2nd when the engine and gearbox are cold. I find it much better than the last auto I had which was a Volvo and could feel every change it made! I don’t use start stop, switch it off it’s a waste of time having it!

Looks so great, drives so well, beautiful interiors... Dude, Peugeot have levelled up BIG TIME. Great brand. Sexier than the Germans and cost so much money less.

I'm 5'8" I have no problem about seeing over the wheel. In fact it is the first car I've ever driven where I've not had to peer through the wheel and find part of the dials obscured. The reviewer says that to lower the wheel so he can see puts him in an unnatural driving position. He misses the point. He clearly wants to have the wheel up high because he's used to it. Here you drive in a different way with the wheel beneath you. Once you understand that, it drives like a go kart and every other driving position feels unnatural.

I’m not a Peugeot fan but this new badge and the design of the car is a complete different era for Peugeot. Very good change!

Is this a Skoda promotion or a review of Peugeot 2008? I'm confused.

I have been driving a 2017 2008 GT Line for 5 years and generally I am pleased with it. I like the small steering wheel set up and the car has been comfortable to drive and good on fuel consumption. I was off the road for 10 weeks from last December due to the cam belt recall and spare part supply issues and very disappointing that no replacement vehicle was available. But I have been a Peugeot owner since 1983 and it is likely my brand loyalty will continue.

I've had my facelift 2008 GT auto since August and mine behaves nothing like yours around town, where I spend 80% of my time. Are you driving with it set to Eco?

Isn't the third engine option available in the UK? The 2008 is also available in an EV version on the continent

Been driving a pre facelift GT model for close to 2 years. I would largely agree with the stop start issue, so that stays off all the time. The only other gripe is the head unit which would refuse to function when the ambient temperature is too high, which is a major pain when the AC is controlled by the screen.

Otherwise, the overall refinements is very decent for the class. One thing the review fail to mention is the relative low kerb weight which you can really feel on the road when most compact SUV from a size above are hitting 1.8 tons.

A dislike for any reviewer who cries about the visibility of those dials when he *wants* to sit as low as in a go-cart 🙅🏻‍♂️
The position is like that on purpose so you do sit high up and have better visibility out period. Good job Peugeot

Don’t nock the gearbox. Switch stop start off if it annoys you. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I agree with the person who commented that you are the first reviewer to slate the 8-speed gearbox. Others say it's class leading, so perhaps you just had a bad experience with the particular car you had. I've had an 8-speed Allure and it's great. Also the i-Cockpit small steering wheel set up - I'm 5 foot 8 inches and fussy about my driving position, but I love it and have no issue at all at seeing the dashboard. Next, the soft suspension(?)... actually it's not soft (are you sure you were speaking about a Citroën?). If anything, the one slightly critical comment I would make is that the rear seat ride is a little harsh and the chassis can become slightly unsettled over mid-bend bumps. That said, nothing that spoils the fun.
Whilst I also like the Ford Puma, the finish and interior lacks a that special feel of the Peugeot, the infotainment screen looks like an afterthought in the Ford (the screen is tiny and faces straight, not at the driver) and having had a close relation suffer the Eco-Boom engine issue at 30k miles in their Puma and have to fight Ford for months before they finally accepted liability and agreed with the lease company to share the £7k bill (after much stress) I wouldn't touch Ford at the moment.

I have had two of these, one after the other, an Allure and then a GT Line. Its pefect for me. As other family members use it, we have gone for an auto. Its perfect for me, though I always turn the stop start off before I drive.

I have a GT purtech model with auto gear box brought it brand new in October 2023 done about 1500 miles so far had no issues with the auto gearbox or stop start may be it’s the presenters driving style

1.2 PureTech 130 GT 5dr EAT8.

I don't agree with anything that this presenter said.

I found none of the faults highlighted in this presentation.

This car is amazing for the whole family.
