Methi Malai Matar
Ingredients for Tomato Mixture:
Tomatoes 3
Ginger 1/2 piece
Cashew nuts 14-15
Green Cardamom 2
Black cardamom 2
Cloves 3
Water as required
Ingredients for Methi Mala Matar:
Oil (for frying) 3 tbsp.
Fenugreek (Methi) 2 cups
Peas (matar) 1 cup
Oil (for cooking) 3 tbsp.
Red whole chilies (dried) 2
Bay leaf 1
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Garlic (chopped) 1 tbsp.
Onion (chopped) 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder 1 tbsp.
Coriander powder 1 ½ tbsp.
Tomato mixture
Fried veggies
Salt 1 tsp.
Hot water 1/2 cup
Garam masala powder 1 tbsp.
Cream 1 cup
Directions for Tomato Mixture Preparation:
1. In a blender add tomatoes, ginger, cashew nuts, green cardamom, black cardamom, cloves, water and blend into thick puree. Set aside.
Directions for Methi Matar Malai Preparation:
2. In a pan heat oil and add fenugreek and peas. Stir fry until peas are cooked and fenugreek changes its color.
3. In a pan heat oil and add red chilies, curry leaf, cumin seeds and cook for 1 minute.
4. Now add garlic and cook for another minute.
5. Add onion and cook until it gets translucent. Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and cook for 1-2 minutes.
6. Now add tomato mixture and cook for 3-4 minutes.
7. Add cooked peas and fenugreek, salt, 1/2 cup water and cook for 5 minutes.
8. Now cover and cook until oil separated. Add cream, garam masala and give it a good mix.
9. Your Methi Matar Malai is ready. Serve with roti or naan and enjoy.
