What is the most dangerous race in the world? 24 hours of Le Mans, WRC, Isle of Man TT... those are all top contenders. However one of the highest races on that list is the incredibly tough Baja 1000. The Baja 1000 is actually 1226 miles long - and some are brave enough to do the entire course in the Iron Man class by themselves. Today we hop onboard with Christopher Polvoorde and Optima Battery to really understand the mentality and journey these drivers have to put themselves through. So let's take a tour of Baja California in the best way - by Trophy Truck.

Cool Baja movie, dust to glory, I think it covered the 2004 race. Just shows how intense the race really is. Way cool though.

I could not imagine doing that race on a bike or at. That has got to be 100x more brutal

My cousin Travis livingston passed away in the Baja 1000 a few years ago when he was racing motorcycles. That year like 23 people died during the race because of how hot it is. It really is a dangerous race

There’s a coffee shop called Fourtillfour Cafe in Scottsdale, AZ that just ran the Baja 1000!!! It was so sick to follow their brutal journey.

You forgot to mention the booby traps that spectators will set up on the course to get some action by them.
Its just absolutely insane.

Having driven part of the track in the off season, it is everything David says. Fun, remote, hot and dusty.

The motorcycle riders are beasts. The condition you have to be in to ride that distance hard in sand off-road is extremely difficult

The one part of the race I feel that was missed but can definitely can be hard to portray in a 9min video and when you fly is the adventure that a peninsula run which it's supposed to run every 2 years has for the pit crew that chase the trucks all the way down. But overall a nice general overview of the race as a whole.

I / our team even got a in the video at the end😋

Not the 1000 but my dad used to race in the Baja 500, so for quite a few years I got to see these vehicles going all out on my birthday

Not wanting to look down on this race, but from what I've heard, seen and learned from both races, I'd say Paris-Dakar is a whole lot more dangerous, with locals sometimes even shooting at the participants and (as far as I know) they don't get arrows to point them where to go in the dessert :p
