I have been to Baja several times in my life, I've helped pit teams like Valley Performance, Herbst, Rivera, and Collins Motorsports, all great teams, and somewhat bigger budgets, but the danger is real. Every time I've done the Baja 1000, somebody has been hurt or killed, whether its a local or race team member, or racer, we really try our hardest to stay safe and keep the locals safe too. SCORE has medical teams on standby whenever needed, and most big budget teams have certified EMTs riding in their private helicopter chasing them too, and if I remember right they can stop anytime to aid in medical to anyone hurt on the ground locals or Americans and then get back to Chasing for their team, plus SCORE officials can adjust times for for the racer that stop during the race to help aid hurt racers during the race. Dakar is tough too, and I'm not taking anything away from that, but Baja is nonstop.

This makes me feel like Dakar rally is just a playground compared to Baja

That was a pretty cool video 👍 thanks for covering one of our events/holidays we enjoy every year, feel like it doesn’t get the crazy amount of exposure

Silt is an off roader’s worst enemy. That’s why the windshield is removed. It sticks stubbornly to glass

One of the only races anyone can do if you have the equipment but it’s off-roading the goal is to finish but many don’t and do it the next year

I would say the most dangerous race in North America FOR THE SPECTATORS. There is no crowd control in Mexico, and some of the vantage points I have seen spectators take are mind boggling. I am amazed more people do not die.

The locals down there love it when a racer dies. They basically cheer afterwards.
