Radish Plant Profile - Purple Diakon Radish

I've tried this type of radish quite a few times, as I currently live in Japan but they're only available during winter in here as daikon is traditionally a winter vegetable. I found this particular kind to be tastier and more crunchy than average Japanese daikon radish, and less pungent. I think they crossed it with traditional daikon and red Japanese radish we have here. I love to eat them raw, or make pickled salad daikon, with apple vinegar and olive oil, with black pepper and sea salt. As soon as the daikon touches the vinegar (acid), the colour becomes bright fuchsia pink and very pretty. My mom used to tell me, you eat with your eyes too, and it makes the boring salad extra special!

nice purple reddish, i have not yet grown these purple radish, but last seasons i have grown many purple carrot in large containers its was so delicious than regular carrot.

Beautiful radish, I'm definitely going to try this. I'm doing white mooli (Japanese) and long scarlet (an old heritage radish) just starting to peep through. I'll let you know what they're like when I harvest. Thanks for the great video as always.

Beautiful looking radish! I got a fancy variety too this year. It's a large radish thats light green on the outside but if you cut it, it's red/pink on the inside. So it's called a watermelon radish, haha. I just had to buy that silly thing. Happy gardening!

What a pretty radish!! Is it mild or  hot & peppery? I will look for this seed, looks nice. I had some very nice French breakfast come up last month, but those awful earwigs mowed down ALL the Very sad, but I replanted them, along w/white icicle

How does this differ from the Aka Karaine Hybred at Kitazawa seeds in Oakland? Similar size and six times as many seeds for the same price. Are you familiar with Kitazawa? Wonderful source of seed for Asian vegetable seed.

I've been growing the white tip raddish but my roots are skinny when I harvest them. Is there a way I can help them grow larger roots before harvesting them?
