Announcing the Most Awesome Raspberry Pi Lessons of All Times! This time we RUMBLE!

In this class series, we will be using the most excellent Sunfounder Ultimate Raspberry Pi kit, available here: (Affiliate Link)

In this video lesson I will show you how to build a portable Raspberry Pi Alarm System. We will add to the work in our earlier lesson, and allow the user to choose one of five different alarm alerts, or sounds.

If you want to grab those cool little straight jumper wires I am using to keep my breadboard builds neat and clean you can snag a box of them here:

If you guys are interested in the oscilloscope I am using, you can pick one up here (affiliate link):

You guys get your hardware ordered so you can follow along at home!

You will also need a Raspberry Pi. I suggest the Raspberry Pi 4. If you do not already have one, this is the most suitable gear I could find:

The Raspberry Pi's are sort of pricy right now, so you can look on ebay or elsewhere to see if there are any deals. You will need a SD card. If you do not already have one, this is a good one:

I like using a wireless keyboard and mouse to have fewer wires. You can certainly use your USB keyboard and mouse, but if you want a nice wireless one, this one works on the pi. We demonstrate this by using a button switch to control a LED.

You guys can help me out over at Patreon, and that will help me keep my gear updated, and help me keep this quality content coming:

Hi Paul & The Guys
I've recently made a couple of videos which might be useful. Here are the links
How to change the default version of Python running on your Raspberry Pi
How to convert a Python program to run on pi AND pico

I did not make this cause my laziness... But added file management for passwords to my project, one password try for auth when arming, unarming and password update, fallback to previous state on failure, three times to password checking when setting up system for the first time.... And I do not remember what else at the moment hehe

Thank you again. I've been a bit sidetracked doing Fusion 360. Then I volunteered to help with the local First Robotics team with my son. I barely have time to do my real don't know how you do all this.

@Paul McWhorter is it possibel that you could make at guide or a code for a alarm system, that gives you 3 try and then start alarm? and evry time you push a button it makes a sound and make it possibel to make sound when armed, unarmed and change password?

I wish you could revert back to arduino. As there is a world shortage of pi shields

Thanks Paul. What I learned from this lesson is stuff I guess should putting mp3 and wav files in a project. Big files like songs did not work so well.

Hi Paul!

My brother sent me here! I appreciate your candor and level of expertise! I can think of many projects watching you! You're awesome!

What is the difference between a raspberry pie versus an arduino?

Maybe I missed a lesson, but what happens if 2 buttons in a row on the keypad, for example 1 and 4 are pressed at the same time? A high and a low can be shorted in that case. Is the pi protected for that?

No homework this week so I played with my Creality Falcon 10w laser and made a couple vids.
Looking forward to more RPi and F360 lessons next week. Thanks Paul for all you do.
