So many Republicans didn’t want to extend health benefits to veterans who develop diseases from their service after they are out. If a police officer is exposed but gets sick and dies off the clock (because they are too sick to work [i.e. be a productive member of society]), shouldn’t those same lawmakers repudiate the claims of ‘sacrifice’?

My extremely healthy good friend, refused to take the vaccine. She had a horrible case of covid and felt like she was now immune, but never fully recovered (long covid the Dr's diagnosed). She just passed away last month due to lung scarring and liver failure. She had problems with neither organs prior to covid sickness 😷! She was 58 and left behind 3 daughter's s in thier 20s 😭

If I counted correctly, every other ailment combined accounted for 169 deaths compared to 444 for just COVID-19 😳

Many vets died in WW1 from the Influenza of 1918-20. Some say it came from Camp Funston, Fort Riley, Kansas, not Spain. Needless to say vaccines were far less sophisticated and much more primitive and ineffective in the era before antibiotics like penicillin. Venereal diseases killed lots of men in 1918 as well.

The point is that they died due to lack of knowledge and ignorance from medical doctors giving their best advice. Even so, cities like San Francisco suffered far less deaths after banning Armistice Day parades, while Philly did nothing and lost tens of thousands of the people celebrating the end of the war in the streets in Nov. 1918.

If they contracted the disease in the line of duty then it is indeed death in the line of duty. You can argue all you want about whether or not you can prove which ones were killed that way and which ones died contracting disease someplace else.
