To support freedom as long as you don't harm anyone(and take their stuff).Don't we just love freedom?

I have no faith in people making their own decisions, but I have a lot less faith in government making decisions for us. A person can be smart, but people are stupid. A group of people can do good or bad, but big, uncontrolled governments are dangerous.

Right to life has to be respected. It is acknowledged in the constitution, 14th amendment.

I am a Conservative voter.
The last year- I have been reading about the Libertarian party and their ideologies.
The Libertarian party, has gained my respect and admiration.
I am a fan of Dave Smith.

I said I was a libertarian there for a while, because I'm strongly against what the two major parties are doing, but I'm realizing that deep down I'm really a libertarian-minded conservative. I can't get behind abortion being legal. I'm not okay with open borders, though I'm strongly pro-immigration. And a few other thing that I slightly differ with libertarianism. I think libertarian should be the default position on everything, until we've made a strong enough case that it's not practical. And I mean a really strong case. We can't just infringe on liberty on a politician's whim

Libertarians support people making individual decisions and reasonable choices even though the members of their party aren't able to do so for themselves.

Well I do think some restriction on abortion is good. Governments existence is purely to uphold the rights of the people and one of those rights is the right to life. And I find it hard to believe that a fetus isn’t eventually alive in the womb.

Freedom. We believe that you, the individual, should be reaponsible for your actions. Not the rights of the many effected by the mistakes of a few. And we believe that you, the individual, should be allowed to do or own whatever you want so long you are not harming other people.

I think an important part of libertarianism is not regulating things just because of moral disagreements, pro life/pro choice, it doesn’t matter, advocate for and educate people on what you think should be done, but don’t impose with an iron fist or social backlash-peace ☮️

I understand libertarianism and like it but that does not mean it’s gonna do good in practice like socialism for example just not as extreme but also I do like smaller government just not a libertarian sized government

Geez dude. 1. Respect the right of others to do whatever doesn't harm anyone else on/with their own property. 2. See #1

I identify heavily with this. Thank you for the explanation 🙏🏾

Libertarianism is a legal theory, or a theory that describes when violence is valid, and libertarians think violence can only be used to defend person and property from someone who initiates harm, or to restore what was lost by an aggressor. Libertarians are not defenders of a minimal state, that's a minarchist.

You had me... all the way up to your abortion statement. Being ok with people killing babies because "people should live how they want to live" can only go so far. That's why I feel being a Constitutionalist is more in line with my views.

If you notice there is no libertarian form of government in any country in the world. I suspect full fledged libertarian form of government doesn't work but every form of government has a little libertarian in it.

"The ability of people to make reasonable choices".. oh my, we wish...

Libertarianism seems to lead to the creation of many smaller governments vs. one large government. Eventually, people will find a niche to identify with and set someone to govern them… A bunch of little governments with their own interests. A divided people. Tribalistic. I can’t say this perspective is for me 😅

What happens if your self interest is to polute the air and water to increase your profits?
The problem with self interest is that it always conflicts with the self interest of others. He is describing a dog eat dog society. Government is necessary to restrict anti-social interests.

I’d you don’t also say where you minimally bring in law enforcement or government, for the behaviors upon which you do demand restraint, then you are just describing *libertines*, libertines in a bubble that don’t usually suffer the consequences of bad behavior, which is pretentious.
