Nova Rocket, Saturn V Big Brother

Показать описание
Nova was a series of proposed rocket designs from 1959 to 1962. NASA's first proposed missions to allow a direct ascent manned missions to the moon and support manned Mars missions.Similar to the Saturn V Apollo Missions. The Nova studied designs that closely mirrored the Saturn V in basic concept, power, size, and function. Differences were minor but practical

Depicted, the 8L, included eight F-1's in the lower stage and placed 68 tons in a translunar trajectory.Other designs in the series replaced the F-1s with large solids, while others studied nuclear rocket engines for the upper stages.

Thank you for posting this. I like that the rocket has a "bicentennial" paint scheme-- this launch would probably have been around 1976.

Funny, I searched for the NOVA rocket on yt today just when you upload a new video featuring that exact rocket.

This is actually one of the 'lighter' NOVA designs being essentially the Saturn C8 (eight F1 engines in the first stage) with a 'standard' SII/SIVB stack on top. Great work!

Just imagine if it wasn’t for Lunar Orbit rendezvous The Nova 8 Rocket would have been in many people’s history books and be displayed at Houston and Kennedy Space Center

NASA's launch pad cameras never shook like that. It's only Space X who have trouble with camera vibrations.

In 1970, MPC released a model kit called the "Pilgrim Observer Space Station" (actually an interplanetary orbital exploration vehicle) that was designed by Aerospace Engineer G. Harry Stine. This kit was recently reissued by Round 2 in 2011.

The information booklet that came with the kit noted that the spacecraft would be launched (minus crew) in one piece by an "uprated Saturn V." The kit even came with an aerodynamic protective shroud to depict the model in launch configuration. Though the model was said to be 1/100th scale; it seemed closer to 1/144th given the dimensions listed in the information booklet and the size of known parts like the J-2 engines and Apollo CM provided. But when I compared my finished Pilgrim Observer that I built at age 11 with my Monogram 1/144th scale Saturn V, I couldn't see how even an 'uprated' version could lift the massive Pilgrim Observer into LEO. But after watching this vid, I can now imagine this being done with the Nova.

I'd like to request a future video showing the launch and deployment of the MPC Pilgrim Observer using the Nova or even the related Saturn C-8. I think it would be spectacular - especially to those of us "of a certain age" . . . .

Magnificent animation! That last cinematic shot was spectacular, would love to see the rest of the sequence and direct ascent lander.

Now THAT is a rocket... Even on my computer speakers, I could feel the power.

Nice animation! If you plan on other Saturn V Animations, I would suggest the “D” and “B” Derivatives. Always wanted to see what launching one of them would look like!

My father, John W. Boze worked in Launch Control during Apollo and Skylab. He would have loved all your work. Keep it up!

Your animations are getting really good, dude. I have a suggestion though, there could have been shockwaves forming before the second stage lights up

Wow! I've seen a number of your videos, but I have to say that this is one of my favorites to date. I love the film grain effect like it's a '60s broadcast signal. The initial engine exhaust is fantastic combined with the sounds. It looks like that rocket would absolutely beat the hell out of any launchpad once ignited. Great job! Please continue to produce more awesome videos like this one.

Some of that 'video' looked completely real to me. I was especially impressed with the launch site after the rocket cleared the tower. Just amazing animation, IMO.
Thanks for this.

I love the vintage look of the video and the colour scheme. Very seventies, very Evel Knievel.
