Should Christians Boycott The Olympics?

Due to the opening ceremony activities, many Christians are wondering whether or not they should boycott the Olympics. I hope to provide a clear answer to that question in this video.

It’s not that “every individual in the organization agrees with what was done“. It’s that the organization needs to feel the consequence, the pain, of low ratings to realize that they allowed something horrible to happen. If we just go on as if nothing happened, they will come to the conclusion that nobody was bothered by it and they can do it again. It is vital to take a stand. So I am not judging those who want to watch the Olympics, but I still don’t think you see the enormity of what was done in mocking Christ on the worldwide stage.

I was looking forward in watching the olympics and hearing Allan Parr saying the same things that I was thinking to myself almost solidified my decision to watch the olympics, but after reading over the comments to this video and seeing all the backlash to his video response fueled the fire in my soul for Jesus. I will also boycott the olympics and sacrafice my enjoyment for our King!!!! The olympics will pass but my King lives forever!!! Hallelujah

Yeah I don’t know. The Bible tells us not to partake. This isn’t a few misguided people. This was an open, blatant, repeated mocking of Jesus and his followers. A global broadcast. Sometimes it’s complicated and unclear what we should do. Not this time. This one is easy, just skip it.

I will not be watching the Olympics this year. Yes, it's a shame for the athletes who have worked hard to get there, but I believe those athletes who are Christian should take a stand, too. Standing firm in our beliefs is more important than winning an Olympic medal.

Brother Parr, I support your ministry and respect your decision. However, this is a bridge too far to cross. As Minister’s we have four basic duties, Teach, Preach, Marry, and Bury. What are we teaching our congregation when we say on the one hand, “surrender all to Christ” and then on the other hand it’s ok to accept the besmirching of His name?
There is absolutely no athlete in the world worth my watching after an opening ceremony mocks my Savior like that.
Jesus Christ died for me, so I live exclusively for Him. Yes, I will be boycotting the Olympics this year.
