KAJ - Jåo nåo e ja jåo YOLO ja nåo 🕺 [ENGLISH LYRICS]

From the album 'Lokalproducerat Pjas' (2014)

Note: In the line "you were yolo if you dug a ditch" the literal translation of the Swedish line is: "You got dirty/earthy if you dug a ditch". "Jåulo" means covered in dirt, but is pronounced the same as yolo.

In the part where it says graduation, the original word is 'konfirmation' (confirmation) - In Christian denominations that practice infant baptism, confirmation is seen as the sealing of the covenant created in baptism. Kids in Nordic countries as well as some other usually partake in this process when they're around 15 even though it's becoming less popular.

KAJ sings in a Finnish-Swedish dialect spoken in the town of Vörå in Finland. Their lyrics are full of dialectal plays on words and other quirks, but I try to translate them where it's possible while still making it comprehensible for a non-dialect speaker. Please don't criticise my translations too much as I know there are multiple ways of translating and sometimes your interpretation will be different, but I do my best.

with every passing year the use of the word YOLO by the older gentleman character becomes funnier

You missed some fun point, when the man took the mic and wanted to tell about how it was when he was young, he said ”do vart joulo om du grävd i ett dik” and that means that they got dirty like soil if they dug a ditch, joulo(jordig) and yolo is said the same way ;)
