I’ve heard you mention this before Simon and I applied it to my competition career as an athlete. When I shifted my focus and my “why” from wanting to beat other competitors, to wanting to stay in the game the longest I possibly can, I found that my rivals were revealing the weaknesses I had to learn to overcome in order to remain (literally) in the game for longer.
As a result I’m now the oldest athlete still competing in my sport in the world, the longest ever competing senior athlete at international level, and my best results have come a decade beyond what most consider to be an athlete’s prime age...
