Your Sumerian series is just brilliant. Every video is informative and easy to follow.

Quick heads up on the head figure at the beginning: We only know it's the head of an Akkadian ruler. There are assumptions that it could be Naram-Sin or Sargon, but that is not proven.

Been waiting for your coverage of Sargon. Great stuff! Hope Enheduanna gets a mention when you cover his children

Amazing episode! I have been studying Mesopotamia for a fair amount of time and have never heard the specific details about Sargon's overthrow of Ur-Zubaba with Ur-Zubaba setting Sargon up(one of many accounts it seems). Once again Mesopotamia surprises me with their "Game of Thrones". I love your channel it is a great resource and it always checks out with the sources I have at my disposal. That is saying a lot when it comes to ancient Mesopotamia. Great job, I appreciate your work.

Sargon... What a cool name. I think I heard it on an old star trek episode long before I knew who it was in history..

I remember reading in a book about Babylon that the later kings of Babylon sometimes took a short trip to the ancient site of Agade, and that it was likely very close to Babylon. I think they even had a collection of antiquities from there (like the world's first museum)

Reported on this during high school Asian History class back in 96. Besides a most edifying discussion on Akkadian Empire and Sargon the Great, thanks for evoking sweet old memories.

Hello there! You mentioned in the video that Hittite kings studied Sargon's tactics, so I was wondering if we still actually have his tactics, or if they were lost to history. Great summarization of Sargon btw.

There are some archaeological finds that suggest Sargon could well have been Nimrod, great grandson of .Noah in the Bible. There are also indications that Sargon (Nimrod) began building the Tower of Babel at Uridu in Sumer, hence, when they were dispersed by God and their language was confused, the Akkadian empire began to crumble.

Did i missed the part where you explained Sargon getting fished out of the river as a baby and is therefore the precurser of Mose who did the same thing some years later ;-D
